I wonder why they chose to make it an 8-Ohm cabinet? Seems as though a 4 x 12 could be used alone, which makes 4-Ohms seem like a more logical choice to me.

so is it 8 ohm or two 8 ohm sections that make 4ohm...

.... I really couldn't have interpreted it any other way ....

It's 4 ohms when used mono or you can split the 12's into two pairs of two for stereo which makes the cabinet 8 ohms. This is achieved by selecting the appropriate setting on the back of the cabinet.

It's like having one 4x12 cabinet or two 2x12 cabinets in one, which ever way you want to use it.

Here's a comment from Yorkville in it's product release statement on the cabinet.

"Traynor are very excited to introduce the new Traynor TC412 Bass Extension Cabinet! This 800 Watt, at 4 Ohms, extension cab features 4 x 12” Neodymium Eminence speakers that are very versatile and will work in any playing environment. It also has two speak-on and two quarter inch input connectors, constructed of 15mm (5/8&#8221 11-ply Russian Birch and has a switchable 4/8 Ohm selection."

Good lookin' cabinet. I'm glad to see that Traynor didn't just slap four 12" drivers in a ported version of the TC810. While I'm dreaming, it would be nice to see Traynor offer a 212 version...

Not really..

I owned 2 Epi UL112 cabs that weighed 30 pounds each. So, 4 x 30 = 120. Pretty much right on IMHO.
