Had the ctm30 never got on with it. This is a much better sounding amp imo.

- much less mind numbing than a fender stack like my Ashdown CTM30 and Marshall Plexi/Superbass clone (Bugera 1960) have

Sounds great with a HPF in front of it if you like overdrive - I just keep mine set at 2-10-2 on the tones. Plenty loud enough for sane rehearsals (where you don't need earplugs or barely need them) - I use it mostly to set our rehearsal volume, just beech out the guitarists if I can't be heard LOL.
I just couldn't get any warm punch out of mine. It seemed to be all fart and grit. Happy with the yba though. Finally the tone I was trying to replicate with pedals for the past decade.

Plus They don't ship to Europe (or anywhere outside of the USA)...
Really close to pulling the trigger on one of the preorders for one of these amps. Can anyone attest to them as far as their ability and tone for more rock/metal(ish) oriented music? For reference this wouldn't be for gigging but more local jamming and tomfoolery. Also I'm new to owning any all-tube driven amps and come from more of a SS/hybrid Orange and Ampeg knowledge of sound, as far as tone relatability.
Hey I play post rock, ambient, sneaking up on progressive metal and it's fantastic. If you like that modern clanky DG kind of sound I'm not sure it will do that very well (without pedals), but for warm fuzzy grit it's fantastic.
Thanks! That's pretty much what I'm going after. Essentially I wanted to dip my toes into the all-toobz world without having to break the bank (and my back) and this amp seems like a good option. While I appreciate and can enjoy the DK sound, I have more of a liking towards more warm and driven classic tones but I just don't have any reference to Traynor.
I think you will love this amp. Keep in mind if you are playing live unmiced it might not be enough without a serious cab. But it's been fantastic for recording and rehearsing for us through my Neo115.
We recorded a pretty lofi track using it a few weeks back. Might help give you an indication of tones for lower gain stuff in a basic mix.

Anyone have an idea how long these amps take to break in?
I picked one up and have been real happy with the sound right out of the box when playing at bedroom levels. When I brought it to practice, I had some issues cutting through the mix and the Ampeg 1x15 was a bit boomy. I turned down the bass to 9 on the amp to compensate and ended up bumping the mids and highs to get the sound I was looking for.
After that, I played around at home to better discover how the amp performs. I dimed the Master and used gain to set volume. This got a nice clean but tooby tone. Then I brought down the Master and Used the Gain to adjust volume. Nice warm sound when you get around noon but then got really farty/fizzy after 3PM.
I thought maybe the preamp tubes were some cheapos, but there are JJECC3S 12AX7s in all three preamp slots. For hahas, I swapped V3 with V4 and when I fired her up, that sudden overdrive was not as apparent. I kinda figured this ugliness may be from the tubes all being so new so this is why I ask the question. How long before she's broken in?
I was all ready to pop in a 5751 or 12AT7 into V3, but now I am not sure.
