New Traynor YBA 100!!

I also think it's not a really loud amp. Though I could keep up with one loud guitar and a loud drummer playing Stonerrock. But the master is quite on max, the gain is also wide open and I played it on my Ampeg fridge, I liked that sound, but far from clean. I don't own any other 100w tube amp to compare. Usually for smaller gigs with pa I have to turn down my volume quite a bit, compared to rehearsal settings, so that amp would make a perfect compagnon for small gigs.
I use to own a V4B (had to sell of when the kids came along) and have played on several since coming back to Bass 10 years ago. I wont be silly and argue that it is not louder than the YBA-100 but I am perfectly able to keep up with a very loud drummer and two guitarists with mine. Couldnt with my two 110s no, but certainly can with my ancient Acoustic 301. I have the Master dimed yes, but gain only at 3 or 4 (I use a pedal for dirt). See post New Traynor YBA 100!!.
EDIT: I always, always use my Fdeck Hi Pass filter (even without my pedal board) set at 35hz. This is probably part of the reason why I get more clean gain. The difference it makes with my SWR SM400 is massive.

I owned two V4B and two SVT in the past so I know about carrying boat anchors, maybe 100 w. is not enough for your duty, if you like the tone of the yba100 but find it not loud enough the yba300 could fill the bill and is easier to carry than a V4B.
Honestly, I may sell the Traynor or only use it for recording. The Ashdown CRUSHES and no volume issues. I was just really surprised that the V4B which has the same number of power tubes absolutely destroys the Traynor in volume and tone. I was hopeful for a V4B solution in a much lighter box.
Is it the original V4B or the reissue?
There is no reason you should have a big difference in volume, 100 w. is 100w. Are you sure about the impedance selection? or maybe something wrong with your unit.
I love this amp. For those who are crying about it not being loud enough, you are trying to rock well beyond your means. If you are playing with a very loud band, y'all need to work on your dynamics. No reasonable person needs a dimed SVT... These amps are for arenas. If you aren't playing regularly in venues that have sound reinforcement, the answer is not a bigger louder amp- this is the most amateur move possible. It is hilarious to go see a bar band with a 500 watt mini PA and no drum mics when their guitarist and bassist have gear like they are on world tour. Lolz.
The one thing I like more than the overpriced tour merch when I see my favourite bands is feeling like I'm going to poopie out my intestinal lining after the gig because they decided to play "Volume Wars" with their 800+ watt amps in a medium sized venue.
No need to get confrontational. We’re trying to have an adult conversation here, that’s all and if we happen to mention that it won’t keep up with a loud drummer who pounds the hell out of the kit, then we are just being objective. I think we would all, well most of us anyway, prefer NOT to play with that drummer, but sometimes we find ourselves in that situation. No one is crying here, Slick. No need to start with the insults.
Nothing in anything I posted is an insult. If anyone feels insulted, then I apologize for your sensitivity. The amp is more than capable of keeping up with a loud drummer and remaining quite clean, but, as others have stated, you need to have the cabs to allow the amp to be pushed to it's limits. I want to prevent anyone thinking about buying one from getting the wrong impression from this thread. I stressed over the output issue myself, but ultimately, I came to realize the claims of it being inadequate/underpowered were unfounded once I had the amp connected to a 4ohm load. I have an old 4ohm 1x15 JCM 800 Bass and two 8ohm Aguilar SL115s. It can get extremely loud with both setups. I have a 400+. I know what loudness be.

Hey @GrapeBass - Any word on the tube pairing on the YBA-100? Is it inners and outers or left and right or ???

Good -- that's what I thought. I was gaslighting myself after the left/right comments earlier.
I wouldn't really compare my SVTII nonpro vs. my YBA-100, but I do:
I love the SVT on the 8x10 for the dynamics in the headroom and the never ending clean tone, even when playing "low volume" with my heavy/stoner band in a small club. It can be like a V8 bigblock driven slowly ...
Whereas the YBA-100 is a different beast, you can play dirty rocknroll on low volume with it, smooth blues and creamy sounds even at living room volume. The YBA-100 also keeps up in my band, at the same volume as the SVT, but no relaxed bigblock sounds, more of a roaring smallblock with open pipes ...
I'm a gearhead and gasser with a lovely girlfriend and nice bandmates, no need to compensate anything nor impress anybody ;-)

Thank you for pointing this out. I have reviewed the Block Diagram with the designer and found the current diagram needs to be revised. I've submitted the revised Owner's Manual and Service Manual to our website, hopefully it will be up shortly.
Looking from the rear of the unit, the power tube pairs are
V7/V6 • V2/V1

So, to put this in the broader context, and with reference to the circuit diagram, the pairs are left-side and right-side, NOT inners and outers.

Nothing for me to approve or disapprove, I'm just a user here myself.
I was pretty stoked and almost beside myself waiting for a YBA100 to appear at my local L&M. Pretty much broke the land speed record getting there when I saw they had one in stock. I too was very disappointed when I tried it out. Spent an hour or so before I finally turned it off and left the store with my money still in my wallet. It gave me a whole new appreciation for my old Traynor SB115.
