New Traynor YBA 100!!

100 watts is loud as 100 watts, what make a difference is how many square inches of speakers. Plug this thing in 2 x fifteens or in a 8 x 10 and I'm sure it can move serious air, plus it save your back. I can't imagine that in my young years I carried a V4B 60lbs....

I had that exact amp. I remember single-handedly loading that 8-10 cabinet into the trunk of my mother's Pontiac Laurentian.

I played at a high school show (first gig) same year, same bass, same amp/cab rented. Planet alignement...Wow!

That was one of the first amp I bought as a teen, absolutly NO TONE (YAMAHA 2nd gen was much better), the worst amp in my life. Not to be confuse with the other.

I just found out about the Big Block 400 but then saw a link to the 100. This is exactly what I've been looking for. The Little Stubby was not great imo. Not much headroom and very harsh drive. I've got a TC115 Neo ready and waiting. Excited to hear how this thing sounds.

Does anybody know of any U.S. dealers for this amp ? I went on the Traynor site and couldn't find any body in the northeast . One place was listed in Salem ,NH but they have since closed their doors . I suppose I can wait till they start showing up on here in the classifieds once the new bloom is off the proverbial rose ! I was hoping that Mesa would be coming out with an all new tube amp after the Prodigy was discontinued.
That’s why I sold my Prodigy.
Well I heard that is not in the Plans anytime soon...I hope I heard wrong, but in the meantime this Traynor 100 watt sounds like a no brainer...my next tube amp for sure!

The first production runs of the YBA100 are slated for mid-March 2020 and the beginning of May 2020. I suggest that if you're really interested, call your local dealer/store and get on the hot-list. First runs are relatively small and get sold really quickly!

Hi, I have two Mesa and a DNBH400 as a backup which doesn't the tone of the Mesa and can be a little harsh if pushed, but yesterday I realized that I never try to put my BottleRocket V1 (tube overdrive) into the fx loop, after settle all the gain and eq right (very mild) I was suprise of the thickness of the tone, something that remind me my old day of the Hofner 500 I got in my youth, even with the PB or the JB.

This amp is like tofu, it need little seasoning.

I love the thought of having a good tube amp for bass gigs. Especially one with the smooth, clean sound of 6L6 tubes.

The YBA300 had great sound, but was just too much for my needs...and looked ridiculous on top of my speaker cabs.
The YBA200 could never get clean and deep enough for my ears. It always sounded a little bit too raw.
The YBA100...being a baby 300 might be just right.

I'm almost pacing the floors in anticipation.

I use a YBA200 and yes, they're different animals. I do get adequate bass by leaving the bass up and adjusting the 'range' control... no scoop either. My issue with the YBA200 is that it's too damn big and heavy for my purposes, especially with the types of gigs I play. The 22 lb. YBA100 is damn near perfect with my 4 ohm sealed 210 cab. I also have an 8 ohm 410 cab which would also be excellent.

I should be taking one of the prototypes out on a gig this Sunday, real world evaluation.

Few years ago I bought a demo YBA200-2 from L&M, never been able to dial a good smooth warm tone to my taste, too harsh. Finally they take it back at the store and I finish with the DNBH400 which is a good all around amp easy to carry.

Later I tried a YBA300 in the same store and found it was more close to what I expect in term of tone. It seem that with the YBA100 we are closer to the YBA300 than YBA200, am I right?

Yes, the YBA100 is the smaller/lighter version of the YBA300. I believe the designer had designed both at the same time but had shelved the smaller version until this year. The YBA200 was designed with a more 'vintage' ideology.

FYI We're in the final stages of testing our new class D amp (proprietary) for the Big Block 115 combo - their might possibly be a head available after that product is released. What's interesting about that project is the massive amount of headroom and bandwidth (400W/8-ohm or 800W/4-ohm with peak around 1200W). That uses the same preamp as the SB500H.

Nice to ear that, I was tempted to say: a tube stage in the preamp could have be nice but what I experiment later in the fx loop with a tube overdrive suggest me this is fine, I'll check this.
