The Billy quote said the bassist should play a note every time the drummer plays a note on the kick drum, every time, no matter what. I imagine it's the no exceptions aspect of this that people are objecting to. Following his suggestion can sound great, but I don't do that in every song, or even necessarily for an entire song. None of my favourite bassists in any genre do that in every song. I doubt that Billy does that himself with no exceptions.Please explain how this is bad advice. Of course it always depends on the genre but for the basics the advice is spot
