Yup heard the news a few weeks back. Would love to get another Mk1, and after the 1st of the year if I sell off my '67 mustang that I'm obviously not going to restore, then I'm definitely going to put a deposit in. But it'll have to be a basic model.

Those prices aren't any different than other botique/custom builders.

I thought Percy was using a fretless Precision in those days, at least in the Eno days... Percy's stuff with Brand X, Fripp, and Eno is some of my favorite bass work of all times.
Does anyone know when he started using a Wal?
Wal himself is gone, I wonder if the quality will be commensurate with the prices?

Just a FYI, deposit is about 1000 pounds sterling, rest is due at completion. Wait time is about 5 months. Left my deposit last month.

My Wal Mach II cost me 3300 pounds total and Paul was willing to make certain small adjustments to mine at no additional charge.

Dont worry when it shows up I will start a new thread and post tons of pics.

One thing I want to point out is that all European luthiers have to use Lead free solder on their electronics. This has been going on for a few years even with many amp makers here in the USA. Its a small detail but its the only one I hear has changed from pre 2005 Wals.

To the people complaining about the price - it is high in $US because of the exchange rate. We pay twice as much as you for Fender/Musicman/Mesa Boogie/pretty much anything that is made in America, and you get to pay twice as much for Wals.

Oh, and to be fair, Justin Chancellor's tone is from both the Wal and his effects. Yes you can get close with other basses, but the Wal does play a large part. Granted it isn't the Wal tone that we know, but it is a Wal tone.

But that's just a segue, both The Wal tone and Justin's tone are quite good.
