New Yamaha TRBX series

Looks like a blend between the current RBX range and old TRBs. I don't like it. I loved the classic-ish look of the TRB's, and the 100x-series were almost too modern for me (though I like the Pattitucci vibe). I wouldn't buy one and go for a second hand TRB instead.

This is just...wrong. I hope they won't replace either the RBX or TRB.

Color me interested. I think the TRB line has been finished for a while now, other than the JPII.

Interesting. Mahogany body! I've always dug Yamaha basses, especially the old BB2000 and original TRB. Intrigued by the pickups, and pleased to see alnico magnets. Wondering if any tone adjustment is possible in passive mode, like the VTC control on Sadowsky basses.

Well, I just received an email from Yamaha USA for those interested. They stated they had no idea when these will be available in the US but to keep checking the site periodically for more info. There you have it.

I am sure that these will reflect Yamaha's reputation for quality, and I love me a Yammy (esp. the BB and Nathan East sigs). However, there are two things I can think of that might be hard to get over:

1. No transparent/sunburst finishes
2. Gumby headstock

TheAnaloguKid!!! How can you say thats a 'Gumby' Headstock?!!! Thats one of the most beautiful headstocks of any bass ive ever seen or owned. So many basses now days seem that they poured all the design ideas into the body neck pick-ups and electronics but they got bored by the time they get to the headstock! Still, each to his own :-)
