New Zoom B3 has arrived!!!!

That goes for BOSS drive and amp effects, as well. Though BOSS does have a few digital drive/amp effects that sound pretty good. Their overdrive, for example, is actually pretty convincing and very tube in sound quality and performance with full touch sensitive qualities. And I thought their Ampeg sim sounded better than the Zoom. But even then the BOSS fuzz was weak and not that dissimilar from the Zoom - not full enough in the lows, not enough raw saturation, and too buzzy and slanted towards the highs.

Not sure what specific trouble you're having but generally speaking you'll find that the overall output level of each patch changes. Very common with factory patches.

You'll need to set them yourself. There's an overall level for each FX and a master patch level and finally a global output level. Lots of levels to consider. :)

I realize that a lot of people could get away with just a B3. At the least, I would want a Fuzz, OD, and Octave pedal. The B3 has a decent enough octave down but I would want ot run it through synth patches. Personally, I use it with 8 other pedals.

I was running a synth patch, just a tweaked version of the Moog Synth into my my Moog MuRF and it sounded great. By messing with the speed of the LFO with an expression pedal, I could get sort Dub Step-ish, although that isn't really my synth goals (I think that **** is played out, yeah I said it). I will have a video camera in the next month or so, I'll be able to do more by then.

Man, just look at the lineup for Lollapalooza announced last night and you'll see that dubstep and EDM isn't played out but is getting bigger than ever.

What I mean is, the real experimentalism in the genre has peaked IMO as far as DJ/Producers making it exciting. I know live musicians that are actually performing have a chance to take it places. Skrillex putting Wobble bass over Korn is just plain lame. That seems like jumping the sharks or whatever. Sure more and more people are digging it as it is brought forward and packaged for the masses. Dub Step was more exciting to me about 4 years ago.

Bass Wobbling has been around for a long time, way before it was called Dub Step, and will be around in some form for a long time. I can't say that I won't use wobble type bass on something I make.

I do like to make use of EDM elements, I am not hating on electronic music in general or anything.

I received mine last week and so far I'm really impressed and very happy! :hyper:
The unit is very easy to use, unlike other multi effects that I've had before, and the Edit & Share software it's great and makes things even easier.

Since this is my only pedal now I was wondering if there are any bags/cases about the size of the B3 to safely carry it around...what are you guys using?

So, for those of you with the B3... how many of your would agree that it would be a good idea to add a compressor, EQ, or a driver (SansAmp/Hartke Bass Attack/MRX) after the B3 to regain or finalize your tone?

I'm assuming it would be connected to the output of the B3. If your amp has an effects loop, would you connect the B3 that way, or do you have it between the bass and the amp?

How do you have your B3 wired to/through your amp?

I'm using just the B3 now, and don't see any need for anything else. I don't use it with the effects loop. I find that the characteristics of effects like envelope filters change as you turn up the volume, so I run through the front of the amp.

I read in the manual that you have to hold #1 for a second and then press 2 or 3 to go up or down the patches within the bank? Is this pretty easy to do, or would it prove to be a pain in the a$$ if you had to switch effects inbetween the verse and the chorus?

Holding the switch down puts it in patch select mode. As long as you don't have to change any parameters or turn on/off individual effects, the switching would be very fast. If you have to leave patch select mode to adjust anything, then you would have to hold the switch in again and scroll up/down to change the patch.

You do get a brief FX slot toggle when you press-and-hold any of the pedals. Happens with the tuner as well.

* I have high gain dirt on FX2 slot
* Want to use the tuner
* Press-n-hold to engage tuner
* Get to hear the dirt engage ever so briefly on the way to the tuner
* Note you have to press-and-hold button 2 for > 2 seconds to engage the tuner in mute mode

I use a Targus laptop bag as a gig bag - lots of soft, padded protection going on inside the main/center section & tons of compartments of every size for everything from cables to mics, etc. The B3 would easily fit in any of the main compartments, although the center section offers the padded protection & is where I'll be putting my B3. Any similar bag (maybe a smaller version of this) or tote would work pretty well with the B3's small size I would think.

I thank you for your time, and I would like to say that THIS would be my final question...but it won't be.

Is there a separation between the preset patches and the user patches?
In other words, if I were to completely customize the first 4 patches(A1-A4) in BANK A to consist of those tone combinations I would use the most when playing live, would I effectively be deleting/overwritting those pre-existing patches?

Not a big deal...just curious.
