I've had the most luck with the DarkGlass drives when I'm running them into the Ampeg SVT amp model and cab simulation. Otherwise, you have to do a bit of work taming the top end sizzle that otherwise happens somewhat naturally when running into an amp/cabinet.

I run the Mark Bass amp sim after the DG, and tame the fizz that way. Let’s me dial in just the right amount of grit!

Thanks for the tips. On the instrument side are you both using active pickups?

I had good luck with running the Darkglass sims just into the Ampeg 8x10 cab without an amp sim.

I'm using both passive and active pickups on various basses, all strung with round-wound strings. Pretty much the same result across the board.

any body any idea which is best effect for duplicating something like the EHX bass soul food. i use the exotic BB clone a lot, would this be a similar sound if cranked a bit, or does the soul food have a bit more bite.?

I know the psu included is capable of 500mA, but
what is the actual draw of the B3n? wonder if anyone has any information..

Hello B3 N owners, is it possible to determine which effects will be switchable in stomp mode?
For now I see only the 3 first ones. I cant find a way to chose which one would be controlled by switches.

You can scroll left and right to reach the effect you want to switch on or off. When the desired effect is displayed in one of the three LCD windows, hit the footswitch beneath it.

Is that what you're asking about?

Thank you for the answer BoydG. No I wanted to pre program which effect would be affected by the footswitch, as in a live situation I dont want to scroll.
My goal is to change preset for a specific song, get in stomp mode and have the effects I want ready to be switched on or off right away (opposed as determined by effect order). But it seems that by default the first 3 effects are under the footswitch and there is no way to change this, or I don't find it...

Imagine that the last effect in the chain is a chorus that I want to put on only at the end of the song... for example.

Oly, you can put the effects in a different order, or you can scroll to where the desired effect is displayed so you can turn it on or off, or you can do both. I do this all the time.

They should have offered this as a parameter to program a preset, as it is in many effect pedals.

Wait, I just found that, at least I can chose which 3 adjacent effects are under the 3 footswitch.

Ok understood, but that's not completely free yet.
It's quiet often to have the last effect switched on or off, like reverb , chorus or delay, instead of the first ones that would be Compressor and EQ.
That's why I thought that logically they had implemented this function.

I'm not clear if you understand how it works yet. You can move through the chain with the footswitches at the bottom of the pedal. Each click will move your screen of 3 over 1 slot in the chain. So you can move to any point in the chain with a few taps on the footswitch. You don't need to set it up before hand or bend over and use a knob.

Now...that's not to say it's ideal. It's my biggest complaint with the pedal. Even the GT-1b is assignable. The B3n is a great pedal, but very clunky in this regard IMO.

Whatever ones are showing when you switch to a different preset will be the ones showing when you come back

You do have 100 presets you could also save one with and one without

I think it’s easier to copy the same patch on different slots and then have individual effects on or off on each one. Eg slot 1 is verse sound slot 2 is chorus sound and slot 3 is end of song sound. The positives of this approach is mid gig you are not scrolling side to side the negatives is you would need to plan it all out ahead of time.
