newbie bassist

Hi out there,

I'm a guitar player who's getting into playing bass more and more. I do have a modest rig that I'm piecing together and have a couple of questions.

I have a 450 watt bass head and a couple of hand me down cabinets (Peavey 2 x 10) and a older Canadian made Sound Source 1 x 15 (speaker is a dead CTS 15" with a Fender logo)

Can any one tell me what programmed wattage is? As I'm on a low budget, I'm considering putting a 300 watt Eminence Legend CB15 into the old cab. The Peavey cab has a couple Eminence 10" rated at 200w.

Personally, I don't see why you'd be concerned about program power. It's not very helpful or useful... RMS is the more important value when trying to "match" cabinets to amplifiers while minimizing the risks of blowing speakers.
