Yo. I'm 14. I have an Ibanez SR490, Kustom KBA100X amp, and a blue Squier P-Bass. I've been playing bass for a bit less than 2 years.

TalkBass is a great place, you can learn a lot from the older patrons.

Also, I'm single. ;)

... :D . Yeh, disreagard that.

Ehhh, what the heck...any excuse to talk about one's self, gear, and bass history right?

Glad to have fresh bass players on board. I started playing when I was around 15- took lessons till I headed off to college. My playing time diminished in college and further schooling, but during my recent stint teaching kindergarten, I got back into bass in a big way.

My given name's Neal, I'm 26, former kindergarten teacher's aide, currently a graduate student. My main bass is a Samick Fairlane 6-string named Lina, strung with Ken Smith Burners (30, 45-100, 125). My main amp is an Ashdown MAG 2x10 combo. I also like to use a DigiTech BP80 effects processor pedal. This gear is here with me at school.

I also have an Ibanez TR series 5-string named Sonja, strung EADGC (D'Addario XLs), which I've had since I was about 16 or 17. That bass is kinda my beater. I slap and pop the hell out of it whenever I go home. I'm not very good at the slap-pop style, but it's still fun. Lina isn't much of a slap-pop bass and requires a more delicate touch when I occasionally do slap-pop.

I have a crummy Crate BX-15 practice amp there as well. I can't stand the thing. The sound's boxy and the input jack keeps cutting in and out.

As it turns out, one of my housemates is a bassist as well. He rocks a Yamaha fiver (BBG5S or something like that.) How crazy is that? Two bass players in one apartment...bet the people who assigned housing didn't see that one coming.
