Sounds like you guessed about right. A comment from the FunkFingers site:

I'd say I was semi-successful at making my own pair of funk fingers. I used a pair of drumsticks (I think size 5A, fairly heavy) and made 2 sets of funk fingers, one heavier (bottem end of drumstick) and one lighter (middle to tip of drumstick).

Just keep in mind, no matter how crazy you might think your drummer kin are, there are bass players that can match 'em if not top 'em.

Hey, my old band had a legit drummer... I didn;t even have to leave my house for practice because he left his stuff at "my" house!!!
Normally we all have to lug (and leave) or expensive stuff at their house.
Now that's a drumemr taking one for the team.
