Newbie nids help

i'm a newbie and would like to know bout how to get the right sound i want. i would like to know how to choose bass, amp, string, pickup and effects.especially strings and pickups...so pls someone teach me here..

and then i quite confused bout difference btw active and passive pickup...

Buy yourself a cheap bass(sx maybe) and an amp.Practice,practice and practice,and use the "search" function,there is limitless information on TB.In that period,you will learn(find out)what pick-ups,amps,string you like.

In the early stages, your ear is not educated to what you perfer. It's too early for you to worry about all this stuff. Buy decent, serviceable gear (preferably used) and spend at least a year learning how to use it before worrying about this. About the only thing you might play with is roundwound vs. flatwound strings.

Passive pickups don't have their own preamp which is built into the instrument, active ones do. Unless you have a specific reason to want active pickups, go passive.

Well,actually my passive pups have a preamp with them.

Pups don't need to be active to have a preamp in the bass.You can think as preamp is a little amp in the bass.Just like big amps,they have their own sound.Depending on the model,they can be 2-3 band.Bass-treb.-mid.There are different variations.

Active pups means,the pups need a battery,without the battery,no sound comes off your bass.

As the others have said just get a bass and start playing. At this stage a $10,000 Fodera is going to feel the same to you as a SX JBass. As you get better and play around with friends basses or in stores you will start to find what you like and don't like. Both in how the bass plays but the kind of sound you would like. So just get something playable and go at it. You're lucky inexpensive instruments these days are actually quite good, in my day they were nightmares.
