Next Benavente SCD6 progress thread

Ask Larry at Gallery. I don't know if Todd could help you out, he might have some as well. I can check over at Houston Hardwoods as well, if you want. Looks like you'd need 24x8x3/8".

Also, those pickups aren't in the J-raj position. Front one is too far forward. :D

I've gotta say I've always fancied myself a natural wood man. Gotta go with the Koa.

The rest of the bass sounds killer as well. I was thinking myself of having a bass built with a Mahogony body and a Maple/Wenge neck. I wasn't sure how well Maple/Wenge would work, but I'm sure you've put more research into it than I have.

Glad to see you're getting a great replacement bass. Make sure to buy a nice lock and a diamond tether so you can keep this one attached to you at all times. :)

ok, enough hijacking... please.

I have now spoke to a couple cats (from Hawai'i) about the Koa that I'm going to ship to Chris, so I'm down to a few pieces. Once I have settled on a top, I'll post it here.

Other than that, I almost have enough to have the bass started... My studio gig this last weekend was a buzz-kill when the 'money-man' didn't show up to the sessions like expected, which set me back farther on starting the SCD6-raj.

Cross y'all's fingers for me that we finish this chick's album before month-end.

Dude, that's a drag about the session...but before you know it, the top will be in Chris' hands and the work will start...then before you know it, you'll have it in your hands, and we'll get some mp3's from you.

BTW, next time I come through Atlanta, I wanna check it out! :D

Eric,
I was assured that the session is going to be finished and paid before month end, so I'm back on track... just waiting for the Koa/Top situation to be squared away.

You will definitely have the oppty to play the bass once it is done. Let me know the Next time you are in ATL.

Hi Jai!!! Congrats on the new build I can't wait to see her!!!! I think the inlay at the 12th fret would look pretty awesome. Either way you go I think this bass is going to be KILLER!!!!
Hopefully if it is done by NAMM, you'll get a chance to play it... it's funny that I have played 2 of your basses, before you had them in your hands :smug: . Are you thinking about going to NAMM this next January?

So here (again) is what I'm anticipating the bass to look like (minus the inlay and the concentric Volume kn0bs):
