Next cover you plan on tackling.

In addition to being busy learning 30 classic rock tunes most of which I’ve never even heard before for a in August, this is another one of the easier to play songs from Angra I’ve been working on. Felipe Andreoli is an absolute monster especially now. Their newer stuff is WAY beyond my technical abilities and understanding. I’m about 80% there with this one.

My soul/funk/R&B band is on a tear to learn a ton of new material, because we got hired to play a 3-hour gig over Labor Day weekend and we only have a ~90 minute repertoire! So for the next two months we're learning Two New Songs Per Week.

This week it was:

"People Say" (the Psychedelephant version of The Meters' tune)

and "Free Your Dreams" (Snarky Puppy, with Chantae Cann)

Next week it's:

"I Can't Help It" (Michael Jackson)

and "Fight The Power" (Isley Brothers)

I recently got a Dingwall John Taylor, so (although I've never been a particular DD fan), I'm working on Rio. Not too difficult apart from getting the ghost notes clean.

FWIW: if you're using someone else's tablature, don't take it as absolute truth. I've seen plenty of tabs that were...less than accurate or reasonable, even in published books. For example, everything on only one or two strings so you have to jump all over - feel free to modify it. Even the original players probably played it in different ways, and simplified it so they'd be less likely to mess up when playing live. When I played guitar I learned a few Rush tunes, then found videos of Alex himself showing how he played them; many of the tabs were completely wrong.

This week I started chipping away at a bass + vocals only arrangement of The Gambler. Fun song. My version is kind of turning into it's own thing, maybe diverging too much from the original haha. But that's how it goes sometimes... At least I'm using the right chord structure.
