NFL 2017 Week #14

If the league is at all serious about their "concussion protocol", they can't let what happened yesterday to Savage in the Houston game ever happen again. You don't have to be a neurosurgeon to know that the man was out cold and about a heartbeat away from a full on seizure. What the hell were the sideline folks thinking???

And Antonio Brown. What the hell? He's playing completely out of his mind right now.

Aaron Rodgers is back just in time. The NFC is up for grabs now.
Tough break for Wentz.

As for the NFL and concussion protocol, I knew that was all a joke when I saw the sideline facility for the testing. Looks like one of those pop up tents you buy from Walmart.
The NFL does not care about player safety. They are making money hand over fist right now, they just announced a $2,500,000,000 deal with Verizon. Yeah, that's billion.
The man the owners chose to run the league is making them a fortune, so they in turn paid him more money than any NFL player.
The players are disposable, always will be.

But isn't that something we've all known, all along? Thursday night games are the glaring evidence of this.

I'm happy to think that Rodgers will be back next week, and I hope that's the case. It will help the Packers and make Jordy Nelson a viable fantasy player again.

I wouldn't so much look at the Thursday night games as evidence. More so in my mind just how completely amateur and foolish this concussion protocol is now.
Or how about how the NFL has given refs the power to determine if a player needs the protocol? Are you friggin kidding me?
Yeah, I really trust some guy who can't spot a football or properly call pass interference to decide if someone has a head injury.
Might as well give a handful of fans in the stadium a headset and let them help out too. Heck, how about fans watching at home?
Perhaps it would go like this.......
NFL call center: Hello, this is the NFL concussion protocol center. Do you have a potential head injury to report?
NFL fan: Umm, yeah man. This is Phil from Buffalo. I noticed our guy throwing the ball looks a little messed up.
NFL call center: Thank you Phil. I'll send a message to Ed Hochuli, who is working that game today, and have him send the player to the Verizon tent on the sideline. Well, once they find it and set it up.

The Browns will not win that game. If the Stillers have nothing else, they have enough self respect to prevent that from occurring.

The loss tonight makes the Patriots 1-4 the last five years in Miami.
Not all that surprising when you add that stat into the mix.

Before the Patriot fanboi army comes after me, I am just stating facts. I am not insinuating the Patriots are inferior. I am not a 'hater' of Belichick, Brady, the Patriot organization, or the New England area in general. Just some numbers on a screen here. Well, and some letters now too.

Well, I am a hater of Belitubby, Brady, and the Patriot organization. They are like the Evil Empire/Death Star of the AFC (the Seahawks are the same in the NFC), and both have several lesser moons (i.e. other teams I don't like) in their respective divisions. Without villains to root against, sports is a lot less fun. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the game last night! :D

Near the end, I thought the syndicate was going to let them win again in predictable Patriot fashion: with a late lead their opponent starts to play conservative defense, then Brady gets the ball, gets a questionable roughing penalty, then throws to a short, crafty caucasian receiver over the middle for a touchdown. Everything happened just like that, except Amendola didn't quite get in, and then it fell apart. That pitiful onside kick at the end just sealed the deal. Score one for David, but we all know Goliath isn't really dead....just momentarily stunned.

Not a bit of hate - you're absolutely right. You don't deserve to win a game if you can't convert a 3rd down. I'll say this, though - the Phins *always* play us tough, and manage to get in Belichick's head, even when they can't win another game during a season.

It certainly makes for an interesting showdown in Pittsburgh next Sunday. Hmmm, maybe Tomlin & Co. should watch the tape of the Dolphins defensive strategy on Brady and the O.
