Oh, one more thing. If you like everything at the wire and a bit unlikely, this year's Seahawks are your team. I almost want them out to end the endless suspense and let my pulse go back to normal.

Downright dirty hit by Clowney. I hate the injury excuse, and I’m not using it. The offense is obviously different without your QB1 though. Biggest problem was that the Eagles couldn’t get off the field on 3rd down.
The Cowboys are also rumored to be interested in Jeff Fisher, Captain Mediocrity.

I was surprised there was no flag on that play.
I thought the contact was incidental and not late; it was a bang-bang play. I’ve got no horse in this race, but I agree with the refs that Wentz didn’t give himself up as a runner. Had he been sliding, he would have been ruled down immediately and it would have been a different story.
Also, small sample size, but the Philly offense did very little when Wentz was in.
Diving is the same as sliding for QBs now. Either is “giving themselves up”. As for whether or not it was late, maybe not. Look at it several time in slow motions. As Wentz is already contacted and going to the ground you see Clowney completely change his body positioning and trajectory, and go in head first towards Carson’s helmet. Doesn’t use his arms to try and wrap him up or even strip the ball from a QB that fumbles a lot. Just a straight shot with the crown of the helmet. That’s a dirty play and even beat writers for NFCE division rivals were stunned it wasn’t called. I’ve seen weaker hits get called targeting in college ball with players ejected.
You’re right about starting slow, though that’s pretty much been par for the course this year if you haven’t been following/not familiar with the Eagles.
Also, it’s not like Clowney doesn’t have a history of blatant infractions that aren’t called. But maybe that’s more on the refs than anyone else.

I had to work and didn't see the game, but looking at it from the replays, it absolutely looks dirty. If that hit had been made on Tom Brady, the other player would have been ejected from the league, fined $4.3 million, boiled in hot oil, tarred, feathered, and arrested for assault. There has to be some consistency in the officiating. The top two things the NFL is promising to clean up its act about are preventing concussions and protecting quarterbacks. Bang bang play or no, the man was already down with both knees on the turf and that was a straight up helmet shot.

I can see it both ways. When a QB is diving forward, he's a runner and is fair game. But, I thought Clowney should have had his head up and not had the helmet to helmet contact. He was going down already, so I'm not sure what Clowney was trying to accomplish by hitting him.
