NFL 2021-22

The Seahawks aren't looking so good. I guess we will find out if Seattle fans are getting more like Cleveland fans or not.

I don't know if Cleveland is that good on defense or if Chicago is just that bad.
The Bears' offense is absolutely awful right now. It's a combination of Fields being a rookie, a weak OL (which the Browns of course have the horses to take advantage of), and Nagy not playcalling to Fields' strengths.

My Raiders are 3-0!!
Well, it certainly helped that this was NOT called pass interference.

Yeah, all areas of his game are declining fast. I saw this tweet earlier...58 passes!!

"Only 5 of Ben Roethlisberger's 58 passes Sunday were thrown more than 16 yards down the field. Only one was completed. By contrast, 17 passes were thrown to behind or at the line of scrimmage."
A lot of the blame has to go to the O-line. Ben had very little time all day. They couldn't pass block OR run block. That makes for a terrible situation.

Injuries have been brutal. No T.J. Watt or Alex Highsmith at their normal outside linebacker positions. No Devin Bush in the middle. No Stephon Tuitt or Tyson Alualu on the defensive line. Only Cam Heyward. That's a whole lot of starters missing on defense. And the offense is pretty banged up as well.

Nevertheless, they just look like a bad team right now. If this is the way it's gonna' go, I kinda' hope they totally suck this year (instead of being their usual middle-of-the-pack). Then maybe they can draft a good QB. But it was a difficult game to watch.

Bingo on the o-line buddy.
The front office let a few guys go and then made two very questionable signings in Trai Turner and Haeg.
Especially Haeg. In this league where o-linemen are increasingly valuable, it should have been a red flag for Colbert when Haeg got benched in Tampa Bay, and beat out by a player the Steelers gave up on, AQ Shipley. But no, they ignored the obvious red flags and signed the guy anyway and here we are.
As with anything in life, you get what you pay for. The Steelers are getting exactly what they paid for on the o-line.

As a whole, a good weekend for sports in Wisconsin.
1. Madison native Steve Stricker captains team USA to a Ryder Cup victory in Wisconsin at Whistling Straits. I was lucky enough to attend the PGA Championship there about 6 years ago.
2. Brew Crew takes the division crown 1 day after Bob Uecker day and on the day controversial figure Ryan Braun officially retires at the stadium. It was also the last home game of the season. So fitting.
3. The Pack wins in dramatic fashion with a 37sec drive by AR with no timeouts and a clutch 51yd FG by Mason Crosby.
4. The only blemish is the disappointment that is Graham Mertz and the WI Badgers.

New York's only team (Buffalo Bills) seems to be rounding into form. Josh has shaken the rust off and started making plays again. Looks like he's got a good deal with the Diggs/Sanders. O-line still needs some work but seem adequate to the task. Was that the longest on-side kick ever? :jawdrop:
I used to be quite the hockey and football watcher/fan. I was one of those "and on the 7th day, we watch football" fans. Screaming at the tv, watching intently, as if I could will the outcome, wearing the same socks I wore the last time they won, etc.
After watching the sabres struggle my entire life and then make it to a Stanley cup, just to lose and never make it back,.....and after watching the Bills break an NFL record by making it to the SB 4 times in a row,.....and lose all 4,.....I broke, emotionally, as a sports fan. Other than my son's little league and HS games, I had no interest in football after that. Hockey I still love and watch regularly, especially the playoffs. But I don't have "a team".
Clearly, there's renewed excitement in Buffalo, around this new team. They clearly have all the pieces and talent to win. But I'm reluctant to go all in as a fan and live & die by a team, like the old days. They still need to mature and refine. They have all the talent, but they're not quite a well oiled machine, like the old Pats.
Growing up with a dad who was a Browns fan, I'm also pulling for the Browns. They've been waiting even longer than Buffalo for a good team.
I think the Bills have a better shot currently, so, if they can hurry up and win one, I'll pull for the Browns to get the next one.
But,...casually rooting. I have to take it slow and not get too invested. My heart has been broken too many times before.

If they don't draft a QB high, I will be disappointed. I haven't paid too much attention to college QBs outside the Big 10. Will this next draft be loaded?

Funny you'd say that. I'm in the same boat as you, and was wondering that very thing. I try to watch as many of my alma mater's games (Penn State) as I can, but don't get to watch a lot of others.

Do any of you college football junkies have an opinion on who will be the hot draft commodities at QB after this season. (Yes, I know how early we are into this season, so I know it would only be speculation at this point. But anybody being talked about as "can't miss" like Trevor Lawrence was last year?)

Looking at the top 10 or so teams right now in college football, I'd say no. It's a mix of very young guys, decent game managers, and a couple guys with big potential who haven't progressed. Oklahoma's Rattler and UNC's Howell seem to have regressed this year so far. One mock draft I just looked at had QBs from Nevada and Liberty as the first two picked, and neither was chosen until about 10th. 2022 NFL Mock Draft: QBs slide, defense dominates the top third of Round 1

Disagree. The DB clearly had both hands on the receiver's shoulders before the ball arrived (and the ball was on target, too).
Well, it does look that way. Sometimes it unfolds differently on film. Anyway, technically you are right, and probably should have been called but it was not the most egregious non call I've ever seen. The refs also missed a lot of holding calls on Miami. Sometimes it's the way it goes. Like the snow game 2 handed pass call against us, that I'm still bitter about!

That can go both ways because there was a lot of holding calls that didn't get called on the Raiders either. The thing is that always happens in every game it seems. Frankly I don't understand how my Dolphins were still in it late in the game anyway.

BTW, I'm still bitter about that stupid Snow Plow game and that was over 30 years ago now!

I'm still bitter about something. But I forgot what it was.
