Hope springs eternal, doesn't it.
I'm here in Nashville with the Titans, who knows where THAT's going to go?
I will say that once I realized even the 'average' players who make NFL minimum salaries (much less the 'big names' who can buy Gulfstreams) make more money than I'd see in 20 years, I learned not to get too upset or ate up with 'Go Team!'-itis. It's a big business paying stoopid money (not unjustified as you could easily get crippled, even killed, out there) and if they're smart, they're set for life.
And living in town with an NFL team, it's often down to way more than just playing the games. Off the field goof-ups, injuries, a lot can go wrong besides what happened in this or that game.
And ultimately, in the long term, I think the NFL and football will fade: All it would take would be for a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady to begin to suffer with CTE or any of the big stars, and you will see more and more kids move to soccer, 'futbol' for the rest of the planet.
Or they're well on their way to pricing out regular people with nosebleed ticket prices to the stadium games, and little by little all NFL games will fade from free TV into paid scenarios. Just like the Gov't, the NFL always wants MORE money.
