NFL Week #18 THE PLAYOFFS

The standards are low in Cincy these days. 4-12 this season, 60-69-1 over eight years, no playoff victories, two winning seasons in eight, and it gets you an extension. Hopefully Marvin Lewis realizes just how fortunate he is.

-Mike

That, or Cincy realized just how small the coaching market is going to be this season. With only Eric Mangini, Josh McDaniels, Brad Childress and Mike Singletary looking for jobs, there isn't a lot of top flight talent to go around. Even if Harbough (I'm assuming he and Luck are both NFL bound) or Fisher leave their teams, Harbough isn't likely to leave SoCal, except to co go to Michigan, and Fisher has made it clear that he ONLY wants to be in Tennessee this year.

When Vick is playing very well I can't think of a QB more dangerous.

I can't either. Though when they are playing very well Brady, Peyton Manning and Brees ain't no slouches either. Very few Super Bowl winning QB's were outstanding RB's. Steve Young maybe?

That doesn't discount Vick's abilities in the least. But typically he is running all over the place because the offense ain't clicking.

It's funny, because the other day I made the comment to a friend of mine to the effect that "how unstoppable would the Pats be if Brady could scramble?

That might mess up his hair.;)

I know man. As a huge Pats fan I love what Brady can do on the field, but the hair thing is strange. I (unlike some TBers) can criticize my favorite team as well as root for them ;).

Funny thing is this is the year where he had a "contract dispute" in August, was in a car accident in Boston and lost his "binky" Randy Moss.

So, how'd that work out for him?

I do have an issue with New Orleans going out to the West to play a 7-9 team, but I am sure this subject has been beaten to death lately.

Eh, I understand that New Orleans has a better record then Seattle but is going on the road to Seattle.

But...

The New York Jets have a better record the the Colts but are still going on the road to Indianapolis.

The Baltimore Ravens have a better record then the Chiefs but are on the road in Kansas City.

The NFC West may be a joke, but... 3 of the 4 games this weekend have the teams with a better record on the road. And the 4th? Well they have the same record but the road team beat them this year, on the road...

Heh. As a Dolphins fan, there are things I personally dislike about Brady (the hair, the calculated stubble every game, the--IMO--whining). But there's no question that he's crazy good. And I have to give him credit for thriving in a season where he could have struggled and had legit excuses.

I'm not a Pats fan, but I don't understand why anybody would care how he wears his hair. What does it matter? As long as he (and Giselle) like it, that's all that matters. (Slapper, I'm not talking about you - you just said it's strange. But I've seen a lot of people making critical comments about it this year. Just doesn't make sense to me.)

The way he's playing this year, I half expect about 31 other QB's to grow long hair... :D

It makes perfect sense: they're jealous haters and they will grab onto whatever they can, no matter how trivial or insubstantial, and beat it into the ground. ... or they're sportscasters in which case it's their job to be trivial.

Hurrrr????

...guess I was dreamin' that 14 point smack in Peyton's face last year. Y'know when someone spotted them 10 points out the gate then just flat shut them down the rest of the way? Total fantasy on my part, right?

;)

Yes. That was a seven point game sealed by a pick-six. Also the saints had to come from behind to win in the 4th quarter, no way anybody could claim it wasn't a contest.

No, i'm talking about a serious beatdown, like Tampa 48 Oakland 21 or Redskins 42 Broncos 10. Not a seven point game that could have easily been tied.

...gotya.

:hyper:

:D

Great game, great teams, and no walk in the park for the Saints. However, keep this in mind:

1st quarter: Saints 0 Colts 10

2nd - 4th quarters: Saints 31 Colts 7

Colts got HAMMERED the last 3 quarters of that game, even if you take Porter's pick 6 away it's 24-7.

:)
