Chris Fitzgerald said:Agreed. This is especially important now that I have a son in the house. Earlier this season, when his Steelers lost on a last second play to the hated Ravens, he had a meltdown the likes of which I had never seen from him. Now we're working on keeping sports in perspective. We were both upset about Denver's overtime winning play, but this time, were more disgusted at the Pittsburg pass defense, which was pretty bad for much of the game.

For me, I started enjoying football as a -game- MUCH more once I stopped having a "favorite team"! I enjoy the games for the games and generally don't give a rat's ass who wins or loses (unless when certain team's losses give me fodder to harrass the annoying few here who wouldn't pick their team to lose against a nuclear friggin' warhead.
Yeah, time is the key. I still don't like the Bengals or Browns or Ravens.
It kicked in with me how out of control I was when my wife stopped watching football with me. She was a big fan when we got married, not anymore and I think I ruined it for her. I found myself going to a local sports bar where I sat at a table alone in a Steelers jersey, surrounded by other guys who were alone wearing their favorite team jersey. We'd all give each other head nods as some kind of validation for being....honestly.....idiots.

At the sports bar, there were a whole bunch of "that" guy in the room with me. It started sinking in to me then how out of control I was. I don't know how many of those other guys were married or in a relationship, but I am sure I wasn't the only married guy there.
By the way...I predict a 49ers loss based solely on the fact that you have failed to pay up on your bet from a few years ago on the Steelers/49ers game. Boston has the Curse of the Bambino, the 49ers have the Curse of kserg. If you want your beloved 49ers to have any chance this weekend, you better come clean and pay up.

Prolly better to hang out in your man-cave or even bedroom watching the game in that situation. My wife? She tolerates my screaming and cursing during the game. She has become more interested in it than ever in our 27 year marriage, but she still gets up and walks away with a turnover or other team scoring and then it's like "I'm going to the mall".Yeah, time is the key. I still don't like the Bengals or Browns or Ravens.

Pack over Giants
No over San Fran
And then there'll be 4.
i'm hoping the pats and ravens play a good competitive game and the outcome is not ref determined
The refs really did a good job in the SF game of allowing the players to play. So here's to hoping!
