Defense doesn't win championships, POINTS win championships. You have to both score them, and make sure the other team scores fewer.

Same reason the 49ers are in over their heads - great defense, but they cannot keep up with what the Saints will be doing, outside...grass...don't matter, sorry. Just to be clear, the guy in that photo up there ^ is just one leg of the #6 rushing game in the NFL this season, and the BEST rushing attack in the playoffs right now. Yes, BETTER than SF's. :)

I'm so confused on how SEC guys can chant "defense wins every time" in the college thread. But in the NFL it's, "Can't win without great offense".

And no way is NOLA a better rushing team than the Texans. Or the 9ers. OR the Ravens. I'd also be more worried about the Broncos (Wow, did Tebow have a great game last week) running than NOLA.

But I do think Brady will beat the Broncos, good point on the shootout capability of both teams.

Giants are going to catch somewhat of a break for Sunday's game at Lambeau - predicted to be sunny and a high of 25 - but likely to be in the teens, possibly single digits by game time.

Last night they showed on the NFL network the 2008 NFC Championship game where Brent chucked the game away. My God, Coughlin's face looked like it was going to fall off it was so red and frozen. Nearing the end of the game, Brent just looked like he didn't want to be there and little did he know he was going to get his wish....bigtime.

That Giants pick, and 4th and 26, are two horrible memories that will never be erased from my mind. The six pick Rams game is there too, but I didn't expect the Packers to win that game anyway. The 2008 Giants game, and 4 and 26..the Packers should have gone to the Superbowl.

So sad about Coach Philbin losing his son. RIP Mike.

I believe the Raiders got a really good GM in Mackenzie, from the packer org. He learned from one of the best, Ted Thompson. Look for the Raiders to continually improve from this point forward, imo.

I'm going Saints and G-Men for NFC. Giants is partially wishful thinking as it could change NFC Championship Game to NOLA. Plus, Giants are hot at the right time.
I saw some folks bring up Seattle beating Saints. No comparison. Saints were beat up and out of running backs. Plus, Hasselback was on fire. Premier QB's win in postseason, and Alex Smith is not.

AFC: I think NE scoring too much for Denver. I just don't see Texans winning on road in Balt w rookie. Really a shame they lost Schaub and Williams to injury. Otherwise, they could be a real contender, maybe the favorite.

Notice I sent w better QB in all except GB-NY, but Eli is no slouch and team is hot. Plus, really pulling for an NFC Championship Game in Superdome. The Saints are almost unbeatable there.

Don't confuse single better RB's like Foster and Gore w The Saint's stable of backs. Plus, you can't focus on stopping the run vs Brees. Playing Alex Smith and TJ Yates is classic pack the box and make them beat you.

What makes you think that Smith is not premier QB in post season? He has no interceptions, no fumbles, no incomplete passes in postseason. He is a BEAST!!

BTW, regular season Hasslback in 2010 had 12 td and 17 ints, alex smith this season has 17TD passes and 5 ints... Same amount of yards..

Because the Texans don't have a stable with Foster/Tate? As soon as Andre Johnson went out, Yates has played against 8 man fronts, but you don't play 8 in the box against Andre. ;)

First off, Houston does have a stud 1-2 punch, no doubt about it. I wasn't saying Saints better, just that their trio of lesser knowns vs guys like Foster gives some people impression Saints don't run well. Easy to think that way based on some previous yrs and all the attention on Brees #'s. i have been really impressed w Houston, esp with the injuries they've had. That is a very good team. I am just struggling picking a rookie QB at Baltimore in the playoffs. Probably a tight game.
