NFL Week #19 THE PLAYOFFS

He definitely showed poise under pressure. I don't know much about him. How long has he been starting?
This is his 3rd year as the starter after Brent retired, then tried to unretire. Rodgers is signed through 2014 having signed a new contract 2 years ago at about $11 mil per year, $20mil guaranteed.
On Monday's local sports talk radio, there were several stories of Eagles' fans giving the well-traveled Packers fans a hard time. A really hard time. There were more than a handful of cars with Wisconsin license plates that got vandalized. One family who drove there from Wisconsin for the game with their 2 kids related their story how they were berated by the people tailgating next to them and when they came out after the game, those guys were gone, but their car had been keyed, the sideview mirrows ripped off, and dents both front doors kicked in as well as the roof of their vehicle.
Three years? I'm not quite as impressed as I might have been, thinking he was newer than that, but he still looks like a quality QB to me.
In all likelihood the jerks were a small percentage of the crowd, but it still makes you scratch your head.
I worked security at the RBC center here the year the Canes won the cup and the only fight I broke up was started by an obnoxious Canes fan. Some people can't even win gracefully.
To quote Bill Parcells: "Can we at least wait for the guy to win at least a division championship before we induct him into the hall of fame?"
I happen to agree with this. If he's as truly great as the media hype then he'd certainly had won at least that or broken some records. He has done none of the above. IMO, Vick is highly overrated.
My comments have nothing to do with what he has or hasn't accomplished on the field. (Which is what we ought to be discusing here.)

I know and it wasn't directed at you persay. I just used it as a good opportunity to post an anti Vick comment. Because, that's still what it was, just for different reasons.
Unfortunately, because of what the guy did, there will be people who hate the guy and will never forgive. He is rhetoric. Hey, even Aaron Rodgers got pounced upon in this thread! Personally, I think the guy has been nothing but stand up since prison; I've not heard one crazy or even questionable statement from him, other than he wants to own a dog again, and from his interviews, I personally believe the guy learned from it, learned humility, and generally I'm pulling for him to continue to demonstrate to the sportsworld and beyond, that he will work on earning our respect for the Mike Vick the human being. Hear where I'm going with this Brent 'ol pal 'ol buddy?
I don't think he should be allowed to have a dog because I don't think his punishment was sufficient. I don't see the need to crucify him every time the opportunity comes up, but I do enjoy the thought of him explaining to his kids why they can't have a dog.

I think that's a fine punishment for him that will go on for a long time. I think I'd enjoy hearing how creative he can be with that answer.

I agree with you 100% As a dog owner and lover of animals, I don't think his punishment was enough. He has been excellent in how he carries himself post prison; I just have no use for humans treating defenseless (and trusting) animals like that. It goes against all that is decent in our society (IMO).
As a "baller" he is just that - "baller" Not a NFL QB, at least not for the long run. Sure, he has an amazing game or 2 each season he has played, then reailty shows up and he tries to do too much and gets hammered. I don't think his body can handle the hits in the end. It must be nice having those receivers, especially DeShawn Jackson - that kid is amazing to watch, just not after he gets the T/D

NFC - My dog didn't even make the hunt, so I would like to see a team that isn't in the NFC championship game every other year. Go Seabags and Dirtybirds!
Smack talking is fine, and you san even express your feelings about players you dislike/hate, but personal attacks against other members are against the rules, m'kay?

One of the things you've got to understand about Gard is his opinion of other people's opinion of him pretty much "**** You if you don't like it". Once you understand that calling people and other football teams names is all just "A part of trash talking, either deal with it or get out of the kitchen hurr durr" then you'll be able to tolerate him, but until then, he's only gonna give you a big middle finger.
He also has opinions that can't be moved by Atlas himself, so just save yourself the frustration.

folks, keep that stuff out of these threads, or there will be consequences - shouldn't be that hard to keep the comments focused on the games from here on out.
Everyone seems to be ruling the Jets out and this could very well work to their advantage. If the Jets get their way, they're going to pound the rock as much as they can and eat us as much of that clock as possible. If they accomplish this goal and the defense doesn't completely suck like they did on Dec. 6th, then Brady is going to have to make the most of every down. If he doesn't, it could wind up being a long day for him.
The unfortunate part is, Brady usually doesn't show frustration and make that many mistakes. Any that he does make will have to be capitalized on by the Jets. If they don't they're toast. If Sanchez plays like he did last week against the Colts, the Jets are also toast.
On a side note: The whole home field advantage for New England doesn't bother me too much. The Jets actually played better on the road than they did at home this season.
NFL Playoff football is a game of mistakes. Make any number of mistakes and a team can pay dearly. During the regular season mistakes can be costly, but as a rule a team can usually recover from them, depending on your talent level, of course. In the playoffs, make a mistake and you're playing golf the next day. And in the Super Bowl, make a mistake and they won't be asking you if you're going to Disney World! The Patriots make fewer mistakes than any other team out there. They also know how to capitalize on another team's mistakes, as their +27 takeaway ratio can attest. I've said it before in this thread - Sanchez better play the game of his life if the Jets have any hope of winning. And if the Jets turn over the ball in their end they're done for.
Watch the first couple of series run by both teams. Check out how many and what kind of penalties each team has (if any). Delays of game and false starts won't hurt too much. It's the holding, pass interference and personal fouls that'll kill you. The team that's trending towards more penalties as the game progresses is the team that's going to have a harder time as the game enters the later stages.
That's for penalties. Another killer is turnovers. I have a feeling that, all things being equal, turnovers and penalties will determine the outcome of this game - and the other three games as well!

Doubtful. "Everyone" most certainly does not include the Patriots, who are preparing to play the game. Opinion has no effect on football games.
