I'm with you on the other thread, the 'aints will most likely win this one on emotion alone, then tank for the rest of the season.

Heh--I'm surprised you aren't still crying over the loss of Aaron Brooks, Gard. You were so convinced he was the driver on the Saints road to Glory. Hell, you wanted him over Vick.


I think you owe Dave an apology for tricking the Raiders into thinking he was worth a damn.

I think Monday will be a great game. Drew Brees can actually play football, so the Saints have a real QB for a change. The Saints will make for a great #2 in the division. :D

Oh man, another tough week... some great games, I can't believe the Giants. That was some comeback. The Iggles played a very good game, but you can't count a team as deep as the Giants out. And how about David Akers? That was a pretty ballsy.

Man, do the Broncs look flat... a friend and I were really thinking they had a chance to really start off with a bang this year, but they just are playing ugly football.

For a second, I thought the Bears D was going to keep up a shutout going for the entire season. I was again watching the games at a bar here in Chicago (among a fair amount of Bears fans... same guy that was being a dick last week was, surprise!, being a dick this week... I tried to catch his eye to give him a nod and smile and to let him know that if he wanted to jaw, I would be more than happy to... but, being a dick, he kept averting my eye... I digress). Really nice pressure from the front four for the Bears... and o-line is making Gooseman look like a star. He's got some bad mechanics though, throwing off his back foot, sidearming too much, but he's really hitting some tight windows so you can't complain with the results.

And, can I just say, Carolina, I'm very disappointed you... as a whole state. You should be ashamed. Go to your room and think about what you've done.

Of course, there was watching my team blow our best chance for a 1-15 season... I kid, of course. There were some things to like in that game, and some things, well, to scream at the top of your lungs in agony at. I thought Favre generally had a very good game, the one pick was result of getting hit from behind while throwing... the protection was much better this week. And the run defense was darn good (as well as keying on Reggie). But the 'Aints were plucky, Drew Brees really kept his cool, and made a bunch of good decisions down the stretch. If they can shore up their O-line and secondary, who knows... they still have a long way to go, but they are 2-0. I did relish the fact that Driver routinely beat McKenzie, and that Jennings the rookie WR had a decent game. Ah well, I still say that we'll be competitive down the stretch.

I do indeed feel sorry for Dave, man, the RAAAAYYYY-DUHHHS!!!! look pretty bad right now, and AB is not doing for them what they need, is he?

I got pretty tired of him last year - he just keeps making stoopid mistakes, it's pretty obvious his head isn't in the game.

I think giving the Saints the nod for #2 is a stretch this season. They've beaten two pretty weak teams so far, and despite showing some flashes of consistency and solid play, they don't have the horses to contend for a play off spot yet, IMO. I'm thinkin' that unless something drastic happens in Tampa, they're a lock for #3 (and oooooh do I hope TB keeps playing like they have so far, maybe everyone will finally realize that Gruden really is a moron).

I think the Falcons fans need to keep an eye up I-85 for the real trouble in the NFC South - the Panthers 0-2 start is an abberation, remember them starting 1-7 and ending up winning the division a couple years ago. They are perinnial slow-starters, but they will finish strong.

Their offense was great as usual, but letting the Texans score 24 points? Their D better pick up the slack before playing a team that actually has a good offense.

No, it ain't smart. :crying: (see sig)

I think the Saints are going to beat the Falcons. They are 2-0 because they are good.

In fact, I think the Saints are going to surprise a lot of teams this year.

The Packers are not as bad as everyone thinks (or have proven up until this point). They are the youngest and most inexperienced team in the NFL right now. They will get better as the season goes along. They are really only 3-5 years (of perfectly placed draft choices) away from contending again. Well...that and a move to LA. :D

OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! That Jags defense was ready for this game. The Steeler defense took the night off. Ben clearly was not ready to return.

Good thing there aren't any hard core Jags fans floating around here.

I said it as soon as I saw Ben was planning on returning: He should have sat out another game... Not due to the surgery, but just due to being cold. Batch proved himself last week, and he was much more up to game speed than Ben. I think putting him in there against that Jaguar defense was asking for trouble. Next week at Cincinatti would have been a better bet, in my opinion.

Granted, Parker's no-shows accounted for alot as well.

The Jacksonville defense was just plain crazy last night. I'm not a Jags fan, but I can definitely give credit for their defensive play.

From what I saw, we should be fine. They didn't stop the pass all that well, Hamburger just didn't have any accuracy. I think Peyton will light up their secondary all Sunday.

I'm still hard pressed to believe that there are, in fact, Jaguars fans... when the sports website Deadspin previewed the upcoming football season, they invited hardcore fans among well-know writers and bloggers to give each preview (in the hopes that having some impartiality, it would be humorous mainly, informative secondarily)... but when they came to the Jags, they had to assign someone to be a fan... it's pretty humorous and well written, you can check it out [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Even the Texans had a fan...

That said, I like Leftwich, he's a gamer. And they play solid D (except when they get trounced by the Pats in the playoffs -- Ouch!).

That is the only reason the Jags won last night. Leftwich did throw some key third down passes, but it was still all about that crazy defense. Those guys were pumped up BIG time. They were blitzing guys all night, and never got tired.

Keeping the Pittsburgh offense out of the Jags side of the field all night except ONE time to their own 46 is simply amazing. Those defenders had Ben rattled all night. You could see it in his face between plays, and the way he checked off on passes. There was just nothing there all night. Parker did disappoint, but I don't expect much more from him. Parker is a home run type runner, good for the 50+ yard runs. Like a baseball home run hitter, if they don't hit one out, it is usually a strike out. Parker was striking out all night.

That right there is what I worry about. Indy's O line just hasn't inspired confidence in me considering how well the running game is going.

Even Indy can't do what it wants if they become a one dimensional team.
