NFL Week #3

The Seahawks will now show whether they are going on a post-championship fold or if last week was a wake-up call. I hate to admit it, but I think they might be on a fold. I don't see them beating the snot out of Denver and Manning again.

Well, you were almost right. They certainly didn't beat the snot out of Manning/Denver. They don't look to be in a fold, but they certainly don't look as good as they used to either.

If I recall correctly, last season they had a lot of games that they just barely won. And look how that turned out.

It's my wish that they start out the season in a mediocre way and then build steam towards the end. I'd rather that they peaked late.

Well, they are certainly doing it that way this year. They had some pretty awful games during the season last year, too, so nobody needs to worry too much. As long as they stay reasonably healthy, they should be OK. Their offensive line still has issues, and it's strange to thing of the Seahawks as thin in the defensive secondary, but they are. They proved they could survive injuries last year, so with any luck, they will do the same this year. The only person who is indispensable is Russell Wilson. As much as all the players like him, and as much as he can do, there's no comparing Tavaris Jackson to Wilson.

^ You're right on Wilson, but I think Lynch is also indispensable, and I'm really glad for Harvin in lieu of losing Golden Tate.
I still wish we had last years team ...

The Titans have Mettenberger from LSU?

-Mike

Yessir. The kids done rather well considering in pre season work. The unfortunate bit is that he is know to struggle with accuracy, like Locker. He's not nearly as athletic as Locker.
NEWSFLASH: Suddenly Jake Locker has an injured wrist....probably from facepalming while watching game reels. CBJ might be up this weekend with ZMett activated.

Boogie down.

The "Hurt" Locker is more fragile than a Faberge' egg I swear. It's a tough pill to swallow after legendarily tough McNair wore Titans colors. If all CBJ does is manage games, I think the weapons on the Titans can do enough... IF the defense can pull their collective heads out. I knew going in this year would have a lot of growing pains especially on defense because the defensive philosophy is so different from what came before. I get that the players aren't exactly a perfect fit for the system, STILL they are pro's and should put up a better game than what we've seen so far.

Lynch might be indispensable. Wilson is indispensable. Without Wilson, the Seahawks probably would have lost on Sunday. Without Lynch, maybe they win.

In my opinion, Harvin makes that offense work.

He certainly doesn't do it any harm. Defenses have to pay attention to him. But, the overtime drive was all about Wilson. He can completely take over a game. I don't think Harvin can, even though he can do a whole lot of things to influence the game. It is partly because of the positions they play. Of any receiver in the NFL, Harvin is the one who can come closest to taking over a game.

Being a defensive coordinator against those guys must be one of the bigger challenges this season.

I'm wondering about the Packers. They simply don't look as good as expected this year, and I don't see where they are likely to improve.

IMO their play is likely to keep them near the bottom of the NFC North. Rodgers can pass, but his receivers have to catch. He can hand off, but the runner has to go somewhere. So far, neither is working.

OTH, Detroit looks like they're on the rise and may stay that way if Stafford keeps upright.

Nobody going to even mention the 56 - 14 ass kicking the Falcons gave to Tampa Bay?

That was something to watch. I only saw the first half though before I had to get off to bed.

The Bucs seemingly did whatever they possibly could to self-destruct. On the other side, Matt Ryan is extremely good. I'm not sure why there isn't more buzz about him because he looks like an elite-level QB.

I agree. I rather like the Packers, but they look like a train going off the rails so far.

I agree with this
