Good points......... No doubt that Romo hasn't lived up to the hype. Of course, Staubach and Aikman weren't Super Bowl winners in year 3 either. To fans of the NFL and fans of logic, the jury is still out on Romo.
Romo has a problem that not many QB's face. He's in a town where he is compared to 2 guys that have FIVE rings between them. The burdens of expectations........
It's like the pressure Drew Brees feels having to live up to the memory of legendary Saints like............

Geeze, thanks for reminding me the great nadir of Saints football, the Dik-ka years, when he had the dueling Billy Joes (Hobert and Tolliver)....and who was on the bench? Jake Delhomme!
You forget a few good ones though my friend, in Bobby Hebert and Archie Manning. Bobby had a great defense to support him, and a fair running game, but if someone had given half a team to Archie, he would have been as special as anyone else, the guy never had a supporting cast.
As for Blomo...er...cough...Homo....whatever his name is...mark my words, within 2 seasons, he's a benchwarmer somewhere else. He will never develop into the player Cowboys fans want to believe he will. And it's not his fault. He's surrounded by bad coaching, and it will be too late to undo it all soon. If Jones had a shred of football intelligence, he would never have let this one guy that was there under Parcells get away. Dude by the name of Sean Payton...
And, unlike Schlomo...er...Bromo...uh...whatever his name is, Brees will likely have at least one ring before he hangs up his cleats.
...and SPAZZBLOW, you do realize that the reason I keep mentioning 12/10/06 is because it drives you nuts...and I'll keep mentioning it, until 12/19/09, when we do it again. Then I will make it a point to rub your nose it that one.

All local news reports have Eli Manning stating that the heel injury isn't too bad, that he expects to practice starting Wednesday and will play on Sunday against Oakland. I believe him .... Eli currently is at 82 consecutive starts (including playoffs) and those Manning boys are made from some tough stock.
It's been a good year for Big Blue so far, and while the schedule hasn't been all that tough (yet), they did just do three straight weeks on the road, which can take a toll on a team. Whether Eli plays this week or not really doesn't matter, Carr is a pretty capable backup QB, especially when he gets great protection (Giants have only allowed 2 sacks this year) and let's face it .... Oakland hasn't gained a reputation as a big threat so far.
Steve Smith is slowly breaking out to be the go-to receiver, all thoughts of the gun-lugging Plaxico are long gone. Manningham has the big-time droppsies, not so dependable. The D is #1 in the NFL in total defense, #1 against the pass, and only #19 against the run, but nobody really tries to run against them and most of the yardage racked up has come in garbage time when the Giants are in their infamous 'prevent defense".
But Oakland is one of those types of games that can occasionally bite the Giants in the @ss, so I'll be curious to see how they handle what should be a cakewalk in their own house this weekend. 'cause coming up after this one is a tough stretch with Big Blue @ NO, ARI at home, @ Eagles and Chargers at home .... then the bye week .....
Giants should have a breather here, Eli or no Eli .... then the fun starts ....

I typically HATE the bye, but I'm really glad we have that extra week for getting up to speed, because we will need it against the G men on the 17th.
I'm always afraid of these "trap" games, when you KNOW you have a really tough opponent in two weeks, and there's a creampuff in between. You really need to be aware of the creampuff, or they can blindside you because you're focused on NEXT week instead of THIS week.
The bye is giving my boys a bit of relief from that issue.
I'm excited about the NO/NYG game, should be a lot of fun to watch! (...and no, I'm not picking it until next week!

As to your Romo thoughts, maybe so, maybe not. I don't know. I laugh at your absolute certainty of Brees' success. I consider him a top 3 QB. He could be John Elway. He could also be Dan Marino. It depends on if he stays with the Saints. If he stays, no rings. If he does a late-career move like Favre, maybe so.
But there will be no rings for Brees in NOLA. Why? Cause that's not what the Saints do. The Saints lost their shot in Chicago 2 years ago. That Bear team was just begging to get beat and the ya'll couldn't get it done.

Believe this: The New Orleans Saints will win at least ONE Super Bowl before the Dall@$$ Cowpukes even win a playoff game.
You need to watch a Saints game hoss, because they are strong on BOTH sides of the ball this year, something they were lacking in '06 when Fred Thomas got beat like a drum for the entire second half. That won't be happening this season, just ask Sanchez and Edwards.
I have. That's a good team. And they will not win a title this, or any other year. I am confident in my assessment. I have a FIFTY YEAR sample to pull from. A half a century of futility.

Oh yeah...I stopped by the Saints training facility today to try and get an up close look at the second coming of Dan Marino. No dice. Since it was an off week only a few players were at the facility. I looked for Reggie too, he wasn't there either.
But......check out what I did find........on the front door of the building and in the lobby were pictures of Gard they got from here somehow with a note at the bottom...."If you see this man, detain him and call the police."

Was kinda disappointing since it was the first Jags game my family (the ones still in Florida) has ever had the opportunity to go to.

my point is that people care enough about the cowgirls to go to sell out their enormous new stadium so that the game doesn't get blacked out locally, whereas in jacksonville they care so little about the jags that they..
a. have to cover half the stadium with a black tarp and pretend that those seats don't exist just so they can attempt to..
b. sell enough premium stadium seats so that the game doesn't get blacked out locally (i believe the league allowed them to do this out of pity)
c. they play in jacksonville municpal stadium... so named because they can't find anyone to sponsor the stadium... and with the 2 reasons above i'm not suprised. although they probably haven't asked peyton manning yet...
Pretty much. There was also the homeless drunk that wandered in. I think he scored on the Jags too.
Brees isn't the second coming of Dan Marino:
1) he didn't break the record
