NFL Week #5

Well, at least we've got this going for us:

The Dallas Cowboys are still America's favorite football team according to The Harris Poll's latest pro football poll. When asked to name "America's favorite team," respondents ranked the Cowboys first , followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots, according to poll results. This is the third straight year that the Cowboys came in at No. 1. Rounding out the top ten were the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Tennessee Titans and the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers, fifth last year, have fallen after holding or tieing for the top spot from 2002 through 2005.

Gard, pops off in 3....... 2........ 1.....

Popular, or winning?

You keep being popular, I'll take 4-0 right now.

The Dall@$$ Cowgirls, the Britney Spears of the NFL.

:D

New England at Denver - NE will be determined to force Denver into some mistakes, I think. If Denver makes early mistakes, they may not have the firepower to recover. Their defense needs to create turnovers and give good field position to Denver. Denver's secondary is better than the Ravens' (yeah, I said it). If Denver stays aggressive with the pass rush, I think that they'll win.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Beating the Patriots is one of the most singular and demanding tests for any team in the NFL. Great defenses win football games. The Broncos anemic, mistake-ridden offense needs as many chances as possible to get a couple of scores on the board, and the D has to keep the Pats' O off the field. If NE racks it up, Denver will not come from behind.

You keep "winning" meaningless games.

Meaningless: 12/10/06

Another meaningless one is coming up: 12/19/09

We'll talk again then.

I'll take a case full of Lombardy trophies any day.:smug:

Back to living in the past, I see. When was the last time they did that again? When was the last time they even managed to win a playoff game?

Guess you at least have your old dusty trophies to keep you company after the season ends. Y'know when the teams that are winning are still playing.

:)

The New Orleans Saints the Ashley Simpson of the NFL.

That the best you got?

:D

Meaningless: 12/10/06

Is 06 this year? Or are you infact "living in the past"?

Another meaningless one is coming up: 12/19/09

We'll talk again then.
I'm up for it:smug:

When was the last time they even managed to win a playoff game?

It's been a while bro. However Winning "a" playoff game gets you a meaningless stat in the ledger. No trophies there:smug: It's all about the Rings bro. Talk to any losing SB team. They'll tell ya.

Guess you at least have your old dusty trophies to keep you company after the season ends. Y'know when the teams that are winning are still playing.

:)

At least we've got dusty old trophies to admire. When was the last time the Saints got one? Um how 'bout NEVER!:smug: Hell it took your guys over 20 years to get above .500 right?

That the best you got?

:D

Nope! but I'd suggest you start learning the jig for when the tape skips:spit::D

you think the tampa defense will shut out philadelphia??

Shut out? Nah, Heres some of the things I considered.

Philly for whatever reason doesnt play the Bucs well. 3 loses in a row.

Mcnabb is trying to prove his ribs dont bug em,so hes gonna try to hard and that usually leds to Mcnabb turnovers,Talib seems like a ballhawk with 3 picks last game, Barber does have 11 pick 6s in his career, Most of em by Mcnabb:ninja:

With Leftwich being benched, maybe Josh Johnson can infuse some life into the Bucs O.

But ya Titans beating the Colts might of been a better upset pick but my GF is a Bucs fan soooo I went with the Bucs.

Being a Steelers fan, I hope the Browns lose to the Bills, and honestly its a push as to who wins with the Cincy-Baltimore game.

Oh and Gard, Rams get 1st pick next year. Who they pick I dont know.

EDIT: On second thought I want Cincy to lose.

Don't make the mistake of comparing McNabb and whatshisface from Washington...Talib isn't facing Campbell this week. ;)

I'd say it'll be at least a 2 score difference by game's end.

And I'm not sure about St. Louis getting the first pick, what's the tie breaker for two 0-16 teams? :hyper:

:D

The Rams will finish 2-14, the Bucs end up at 4-12.

As for this week, here are my picks:

Minnesota over the Lambs

Kansas City in an upset squeaker over Dallas

Washington beats Carolina (nothing against the Panthers but I'm rooting for them to lose every game)

Philadelphia over Tampa Bay

Oakland in a major upset over the NY Football Giants

Cleveland pulls things together to upset Buffalo

Baltimore over Cinncinati

Pittsburg over Detroit though not by as much as people think

Shaun Hill stays perfect at home - SF over Atlanta

New England beats Denver to start a mini-slide for the Broncos

I think Arizona wakes up and crushes Houston

Jacksonville beats Seattle

Indianapolis beats Tennessee

Miami in a slight upset over the NY Jets

Gard, Jazzbo... the Cowboy/Saints arguments are getting boring. Argue about something else for a while.

Jimmy,

What would you like to discuss? Have you got a favorite team? I'm sure we'd oblige you and tear into them if you wish.
I brought the last Cowboy/Saints stuff up. This is not an argument man, it's just good ole trash talk.:p

But when a guy does talk trash, I'm gonna bring it back on 'im.

In case you didn't know, that's what Football fans do.;)

Why would you want to rain on somebody elses parade?

I'm laughing the whole time man:D

God Bless, Ray

Lessee....

...the Cowpatties fans have a past to rattle on about...the Saints fans have a future to be proud of...

...you're a Jags fan, right? Past? Not much...future...not much...

...heck, your team can't even fill half it's stadium, and is covering it in black tarps so it doesn't look bad on TV!!!

:hyper:

Even at the worst, when the fans were wearing bags over their heads (which I always took offense at), we at least got more than 2/3rds of the stadium full, and even got blackouts lifted from time to time!

:smug:

(...would you like us to go back to arguing about the Saints and Cowboys again now? :D Just remember, you REQUESTED this abuse! ;) )

The New Orleans Saints the Ashley Simpson of the NFL.

I'm slow clapping that one.

I often forget that Gard roots for a team that has NEVER won anything. Ever. Not once.

Hell, we all enjoyed kicking the Lions the last few years. They had their moments in the '50's.

The LIONS have bragging rights over the Saints.

The Lions......

I have nothing to feel poorly about, Gard.

Remember, we're an expansion team with less than two decades of play.

In that time, we've won a couple AFC central titles (pre-realignment) and went to the AFC championship twice.

In the same amount of time, the Saints won... three games?

Something like that.

And no, I'm not living in the past. I'm living in the now, and am completely excited about the prospects for the team. Upset that Freddy T is gone, but loving how Mojo is rockin it. Love watching Sims-Walker pick up where Jimmy Smith left off, love how Garrard is turning into Mark Brunell 2.0, love how exciting Jags football is in general.

And, I love the AFC. The division we're in, in particular.

Times are tough economically, and while I don't know what it's like in Jacksonville, but if people are hurting there as bad as I am here, it doesn't surprise me that tickets aren't selling.

Can't hurt my feelings, buddy.

I don't care what you go on about, but you guys both keep recycling the same arguments over and over and over again between the Cowboys and Saints. THAT is why it's getting old, not because the argument isn't amusing.

Oh, and for the record, Emmit Smith is one of the best backs in NFL history, and he is a complete douche. As a representitive of both my Alma Mater and AMERICA'S TEAM as they like to be called, he does a good job of putting a nasty taste in my mouth. Nolan Ryan was a class act as far as famous athletes go. Emmit was just a jerk.

He's a Jags fan huh. Well I hope he isn't too accustomed to them being in Jacksonville. They wont be for long.:help:

Del Rio ( A Saints Draft and An Ex Cowboy;)) Is a poor coach with a .500 record. He's laying some pretty big turds for there "sucess" to be that their entire season isn't blacked out. Man the Pressure:rolleyes:

See with Del Rio involved with your team we still get to talk trash about the Saints/Cowboys:D

You're just screwed.:hiding::D
