Come slow clap in the post season, smart guy. You'll have time, because the Cowgirls will be playing GOLF, not football.
Do the Lions play the Cowpatties this year? I hope so, I'd love to see that game, it might actually be competitive. Heck, Dall@$$ might actually be able to keep it close.

Nothing could be further from the truth Jimmy. I lived in Dallas for the entirety of Smith's career. You'll have to prove to me that he was in any way a jerk, not to mention a douche.
I challenge you to PROVE IT!
The only thing I ever thought was lacking with Emmit Smith was his edjucation which apparently he recieved at your Alma Mater.
He wasn't the brightest in the bunch but he had both heart and class.
Name one Jag with an accomplishment anywhere near Emmits.

You have to understand, the Broncos have two strikes against them in my book:
1) They have a Belichek disciple at the helm. I can't really root for him on that basis AND his other coordinators have fared very poorly so far.
2) The WORST 49ers head coach of my life time (yes, worse than Dennis Ericson) is their Defensive Coordinator. I don't hate Mike Nolan, but I can't exactly root for him either.
Still, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed with what the Broncos have done so far. I keep waiting for them to tumble and maybe they won't. Maybe McDaniels DOES have the goods to be a great head coach. And maybe Nolan, while a bumbling and incompetent head coach, really is a great coordinator. We'll see.
And I don't care what his image was, at UF, his image was pretty clean too. In person, the guy was an absolute jerk.

How? Have you met him? Got anywhere you can point to that has somebody that will concur with your opinion?
Seems to me if the guy was a jerk, UF folks would be coming out of the woodwork to "knock him".

Even if they lose to NE, I won't consider that a tumble, it would only be the same fate a LOT of teams are going to suffer this year. I fully expect NE to win the majority of games and be a force in the playoffs, just like the last several years in a row. Losing to NE will just be a notch in the "L" column, not necessarily the start of a tumble.
If there is one thing of note about Denver, it's their ability to adjust. From team to team, and from quarter to quarter (look what happened to Dallas after an impressive first quarter). I expect them to bounce back after a NE loss and make the playoffs. Which is a helluva lot more than anyone gave them in the preseason.

He was rude, brusque, and all around unfriendly. He had the 'I'm a star and you're nothing' complex attitude.

Jimmy, For the record I'm not at all saying that I know for a fact, or that what you're saying is untrue. It's just unllike most things I've heard (even from others personal experiences) about him.

I've met him. A couple of times. He was gracious to me and my family. He let my then 5 year old daughter beat him at a video game. He was a gentleman.
I'd love to know the circumstances of this meeting where he was rude and brusque. This is why a person in the public eye can't win. They aren't allowed an "off day". Some dude will rip him on an internet board years later.
Oh yeah, and the accomplishment you were asking Ray about? He's the all-time NFL rushing leader, a 3-time World Champion, and a mortal lock 1st ballot Hall of Famer.

Jimmy did say that he was a great Player in the NFL.
I don't have the ability of knowing how he was to everyone, he may have been rude, who knows?
A lot of my friends who have met him have the same opinion of him as yours that he was a true gentleman.
People are people, like you say. But Jimmy being rude about Emmitt doesn't give others the right to "return the favor".
I'm a heckuva trash talker but I'm not rude, even to those I disagree with.

I may have crossed the line calling him a douche, and maybe he isn't and was having a succession of off days, but he didn't strike me as personable at all. On three occassions, I asked for his autograph, as has my youngest brother, twice on Gator gear, once on Cowboy/NFC team gear. Each time he either ignored me, or flat out said no. This was always in an actual sports setting, as I refuse to interupt a person out on the town or during dinner, etc. This isn't the whole of it, just for comparison.
Hell, even Fred Taylor (whom I have two autographs from, once as a Gator, along with Ike Hilliard and Danny Wuerffel, on a photo of Fred laying a monstrous block on a Seminole while Danny tossed a quick slant to Ike, and one as a Jag when he came out here for the pro-bowl last year) was cool as hell, even if a bit preoccupied or distant.
Or then, it could be whom I am comparing him to, Nolan Ryan, who is by far the most gracious athlete I have ever met. Back in the day, when I was a kid in Houston, he'd come to my mother's bakery at least once a week. My mother would always take me there early in the morning before school so she could prep the shop, and he was normally the first customer in there to buy a cinnamon bun or something similar. He always took the time to talk to me for five or ten minutes, and personally brought me stuff which I own to this day from his Astros days. Signed felt pennants, bats, balls, hats, jackets, etc. Every sinle time, he brought me something new. I even have a rookie card he signed for me, graded at a 98. Funny thing is, it'd be a 100 grade if it weren't for his sharpee autograph and his finger prints.
Point is, MY experience with Emmit are not pleasant, and I shall remember them as such. My experiences with other athletes have been pleasant, and I shall remember them as such.
As far as I am concerned, however, I am far from nothing. Mr. Smith may hold a number of records, several large rings, a Bachelor's Degree, and lots of money, but he has also never served overseas. I did, and did so so that he absolutely COULD be a jerk if he wanted too. I am no better than he, he is no better than I. I am a proud father of two, a loving husband, a veteran, and like every other red blooded American, absolutely not nothing. He was a star, certainly. Hall Of Fame, sure thing. Now? No idea what he does outside of being a spokesperson for a hair dye company. I change diapers professionally.

Polamalu! Mr. "Head n Shoulders" himself is practing this week and will be a gametime decision .
Personally, he can sit this one out and comeback for the next game against the Brownstains, or even sit that one out and come back against the Favrings.
