Their family is in my prayers.

Mike coached a while at Dallas (did a better job than the current guy:rollno:) and Mike and Vikki's son works in NO with the Saints.

Goes to show ya. You never know, So make it your best at all times:)

Gard, I was being sarcastic. I am aware that the Saints have played good ball in recent years, and was hoping to see them in the Super Bowl a couple years back, a year where yet again 12 wins wasn't enough to win the AFC South and the Pats got to ruin the Jags' playoff run.

The sad thing though, is that the Saints have 'at least' as many winning seasons as the Jags. They've been playing two or three times as long and should have at least twice as many good seasons as the Jags. Not criticizing, just pointing out that the Saints don't have a culture of winning down there. All through my young life, they, much like the Raiders, Lions, and Browns, were the perennial whipping boys of the league. I'd rather they do well than the other teams, though I wish the Lions didn't suck. I *was* happy that the Raiders played the Bucs in the Pirate Bowl earlier this decade, because if there is anything on earth more annoying than a Steeler or Eagles fan, it's a citizen of Raider Nation, and I got to rub Florida all in their faces. (The Bucs were my NFC team choice after I went from the Aikman-era Cowboys to the Jags upon their inception into the league.)

My personal fandom had jumped around a bit as I've grown, but I think I'm good.

i think you mean lions, browns, and cardinals. the raiders are one of the most successful franchises in the nfl, even if they've stunk it up since 2002.

...oh, believe me, I will all season, just to annoy, irritate, infuriate, offend, and harass everyone I can, because as a good friend of mine said to me on the phone from NOLA just the other day:

"Next year is THIS year, baby!"

:)

This is a totally different team in NOLA than anyone has ever seen, they're balanced in all phases of the game, and they will find ways to win no matter what.

I don't think they'll "run the tables", but if any team in the NFL has the horses to do it right now, it's the Saints.

I say if they'd cut him loose, even if he threw a few to the wrong team they stand a better chance than having him afraid.

Question for ya, If you were Jerry Jones and "giving up" the football end, who'd you hire of available coaches?

Not sure who they're showing in the late game here today. Not going to my usual haunt for the game, and I'm taking the g/f & her daughter to the state fair this morning, will not watch the early games.

I'm hoping that we get the Atlanta - SF game, I really want to see the Foulclowns get clobbered in real time.

However, I'll be watching whatever the 4 pm game is in our area, then the Sunday night game - which will be like watching a trainwreck in slo-mo.

...oh, and while I'll be at the fair, I've got my phone setup to keep track of scores (iPhone), so I will still be aware of what is happening. ;)

(...and I'll be pulling for the Dallas Texans today! :hyper: )

Heh, yeah, but I don't see it happening.

If I were seriously going to believe that Crazy Jerry was going to stop meddling in the affairs of dragons...Shanahan, he's the right guy to take the talent on the team and make a winner out of it.

Luckily for me, Jones is too arrogant/stupid to do that, and he will either opt to keep Wade Phillips or elevate whatshisname that is the OC now, because he can keep them under his thumb. For an example of coaching that doesn't tolerate his style of "ownership", see what happened when The Tuna was there. No coach worth his salt will put up with Jones as an owner at this point, IMO.

I'm unenthused with Shanahan. Don't know why, but I think he'd be too busy doing Crest White Strips ads:smug:

I'd bet what happened with Parcells was a matter of "Promising" control to Bill, and slowly but steadily Jones crept in with his opinion Ya know.

Tuna seemed severely pissed a lot of the time in D.

Phillips however is the antithisis of this, he always seems dejected, win or lose. Reminds me of Eeyore. "Oh Bother":D

I just don't get it.

i know the game isnt (technically) over, but i want to be the first to say give us our number one draft pick back. jamarcus russel just plain sucks. sure, we dont have a great o line, and sure there arent a bunch of superstar receivers, but seriously, jamarcus, complete at least one decent pass man. 1-15? what do you think? i think we got the potential. maybe we can draft another over hyped mammoth qb with no accuracy. since we will be bad enough to get a good pick next year.
