NFL Week 9

I predicted at the beginning of September in an e-mail to several friends, before the regular season started, that the Pack would finish 3-13 in dead last in the NFC North. As much as it pains me to say so, it's coming true - except in looking at their schedule, I'm not sure which two remaining games they'll win. :(

This from a lifelong Packers fan, back in the days of Starr, Dowler, Kramer, Gregg, McGee, et. al.

Man, this sucks!

Oh no it doesn't. :smug:

Well, the Steelers made it out of Lambeau.

Batch played well enough not to lose the game, but I'll be honest, I'm not exactly encouraged. Being better than Maddox isn't always enough - hopefully Ben makes it back soon. It was great to see Duce back and running hard. If Staley, Bettis, and Parker are all healthy come playoff time, look out.

This is the time of year when fathers in Detroit get to pass on many great traditions to their son's:

1) The wearing of a bag over your head at the pro football game

2) Arts and Crafts time where the family gets together to make "fire the coach" posters

3) Children getting to comfort grandpa, who is sobbing" I know my tickers gonna give out before they win a playoff game"

4) Fathers teaching their children proper pronunciation of ethnic names, so they can chant "We Want Orlavsky" at the game

5) Parents learning self control in front of the TV set and not swearing in front of the young ones as the first round draft choice Left Tackle gets his fifth false start penalty

6) And by the eighth week of the season saying to their sons, Theirs always the Pistons and the Wings!

:D

Well Gard.......

Looks like a signature change is due.
It will read like this:

"I hang my head low for I am a Saints fan.
The Bears are a much better team.
I am not worthy to carry Jive1's jock"

First down, Gard. Next it's Cheezewiz.

Yeah yeah yeah...you won by THREE points, wise guy.

...but a bet is a bet, and to throw you off the scent of the Qintar, I will honor it....sorta...

:ninja:

On a side note, I was amazed to see the number of Steelers fans at Lambeau Field. They are DIE-HARDS there. Just like Philadelphia.... Without the violence!
We like to keep it civilized here in Cheese Country. We love our Packers, but we love the rule of law as well. Thanks for the compliment.

The Packers knew going into Sunday's matchup that the Steelers would be bringing something other than their A-game. They beat us anyhow. Congrats. Nice win.

My Packers have some serious work ahead of them. They might start with Mike Sherman, the head coach and former GM who got them into this mess with the brain-dead personnel decisions he's made. :bawl:

Thanks on the congrats! :)

That's one of the things I've always liked about the Pack: Their fan base. Completely loyal fans, without the psychosis! LOL. I had a few friends that made the trip to Green Bay for the game. Boy I woulda loved to go!

I live in Northeast PA. Much closer to Philadelphia than Pittsburgh. But there's not a snowball's chance in HELL I'd go see Pitt play in Philadelphia. I'd be too afraid for my well-being. For the love of god, they booed Santa Clause!!!

OK, Week 9 is officially over.

The Colts beat the Patriots 40-21! :D

Convincingly beat the Pats.

Over the "hump", they now are the team to beat this season....and I gotta say, it's good to see a really classy group of guys doing it. Can't think of any coach I'd rather see get that ring than Dungy, after he got screwed out of it in Tampa.

I had an AWESOME time at Lambeau for the Steeler game, despite my beloved Packers handing the Steelers the win. The Steeler offense managed a 3 whole points unassisted, but when you hand them 3 turnovers that they turn into 17 points, they earn the win. I love the City of Green Bay and the Packer organization. It is first class all the way.

The Pack will be back.

The Lions have never been around.

It can't be forever, Pac, but at least y'all HAD something of a dynasty....heck, at least y'all won more than ONE playoff game...

:bawl:

We'll be back, Gard. Hell, even if they don't get anybody in the off season, there's 16 guys on the injured list! There's another great season left in those guys.

Of course, then the bills come due.....
