NGD: Spector & Ampeg

So...MadBassPlaya and I decided to go bar hopping today...oops, I mean pawn shopping...and here is what I came home with!
Spector Legend 5 and Ampeg B100R Rocket combo. $525 for the both of them...I wasnt really in the market for a combo amp, but it will make a nice lil' practice amp for the house...couldn't resist :bassist:

Nice Spector. I've always wanted to try that pickup configuration. You'll have to let us know how it compares to a NS2 or one of the other more traditional sounding Spectors. I've been looking for a laid back and mellow sounding Spector and had settled on the Spectorcore but the one you got may be a good choice also. I have a REX5 and love it but also want to get an additional Spector that's less agressive for those mellow moments. If you can post some sound clips of this bass vs your other Spectors it would be great!
Congrats on a fantastic buy.
PS - I also have an Ampeg SVT-VR and it's a match made in heaven for the Spector I have.

Well I have to say that this Spector Legend is definitely not mellow or laid back...:bassist:
But...if you are looking for a "mellower" Spector, I would recommend an NS2JA-R....still not very mellow though...has a great sound all its own. I think if I were going to try to tame the Spector "beast" I would get the JA-R and throw some Barts in it.
But that kinda defeats the purpose of having a Spector, don't it ? ;)

Yeah, I hear ya on the purpose of having a Spector. I've just fallen completely for my REX5 and was hoping to round out the bas collection with something more traditional looking and sounding. I'll have to look into the JAR but I agree it will have to stay original or else why by the Spector.
Again, congrats on the NB/NAD.
