Minnesota signed Matt Cooke to a three year deal. It was nice to see him turn his career around, hopefully he continues to do so.

The Jets made a move! They picked up Devin Setoguchi in a trade with Minnesota. The TSN guys were talking earlier how it was a disservice to the Jets fans that management made no moves today.

Wings get Alfredson and Weiss, loose Filpilla. While Filpilla was a good two way player, they have definitely gotten deeper up front with these moves and they didn't break the bank doing it. I like all of their centers, Datsyuk, Weiss, Nyquist and Joakim Anderson. Also reports from the team are that Darren Helm is skating and looking good.

So basically they are moving East with a team that played the eventual Cup champions better than the Eastern Conference champions did, and they'll have far less travel with a deeper team and some good young players, Nyquist, Anderson, Emerton, Dekeyser, and Smith with some serious playoff experience under their belts.

$6,000,000 for Iginla? That's crazy talk. Good thing Pittsburgh didn't blow out some young guys to make room for that contract.

I like Ingla, but that is a bit steep. I still think the biggest concern the B's should have is what happened to Chara. He did not look like a #1 D man in the finals. He seemed a step slow, and afraid to shoot from the point. He isn't aging like Lidstrum (few do), I suspect they may need a #1 D man to get back.

I don't care what we paid, I couldn't be happier. I'm a character guy, Iginla has it.

Where was that character when he committed to Boston, then went with Pittsburgh?

I like the guy too, but that salary seems high for what you're getting. Then again, maybe he didn't fit well in Pittsburgh and that is why he didn't play all that well.

-Mike

I like the Iginla signing. It is only for 1 year so that lessens the risk to the B's (and partly explains the high cost), if it turns out to be a good fit, they can re-sign him to something longer once the cap goes up next year.

Khoudobin signed for $75,000 less than he was making with the B's. I thing he is worth more and will eventually be a #1 in the NHL. The B's will promote their AHL keeper and that will allow Subban's brother to get more AHL time between the pipes.

I'm not exactly sure what "committed"means in this context, It's not college. I'm not exactly sure on what level that was at. are you?

The guy spent 15 years with one organization, that's Commitment.

You ever hear the story where he's is eating dinner in a restaurant. A couple of fans come over for a autograph confess that they drove some ungodly west coast Canadian distance to see the hockey game. Would as well be sleeping in a car. He leaves and books them a room in his hotel on his dime. Didn't say it to their face, didn't wait for a thanks, just made it happen.

He's not what he once was,but he's not far out from it. 2 years ago he was rollin along at 35 or so a year. For YEARS (like 10 of them) Then last year he production changed.

I'm not sure but I think he'll fit. Power forward, not a fast game guy. Good 2 way player. Top line?? No.I'd try Erikson on his off wing there. Second line? Yes. Bergy and Marchand.. and Elvis! I can't wait to see it click!

I agree about Chara, They hinted at injury but never came out and talked about it.
I really hope Morrow is ready for minutes in the show and lives up to the hype.

If we could have just held onto Ferrence... I would have been very happy with the changes.

Lucic-Krejci-Eriksson
Marchand-Bergeron-Iginla
Soderberg-Kelly-Paille (or Caron/Reilly Smith)
Caron-Campbell-Thornton

That looks good to me! I'd move Danny Paille up to get more ice time. He's great with Soupy on the PK, but he's been putting the puck in the net. Give him an extra 3-4 minutes/game with the one-eyed Swede and hopefully Kelly was just hampered by his broken leg this year and bounces back. Reilly Smith is a wild card. Craig Button projects him as a possible 25-goal man.
