NHL 2013 off season thread

Classy exit statement from Bryz: http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/...e-who-helped-him-through-some-very-dark-days/

Bergeron has been in the hospital since the end of Game 6: Invalid Link Removed

Both Ference and Jagr will not be returning to the Bruins.

Artem Anisimov signs 3-year, $9.85M extension with Blue Jackets (I like this move, big fan of Anisimov and this is another step in the right direction of Columbus)

Aaaaand Patrick Kane celebrating in a unicorn mask

Sounds about right to me. I'm a little more pessimistic on Horton - with the injuries, this might be the time to let him go even though he was huge in the early rounds.

makes sense. I don't think it kills them if Horton goes. Seguin move ups and some of the younger guys can step it (soderberger, khoko, spooner and knight maybe). word is khodobin will get a starting job or go to the KHL.

Apparently Bryz's agent ripped apart the Philly coaching staff on Edmonton AM radio. Two things strike me here. A) With the exception of the players they work for and the teams they are trying to dupe; Who listens to agents? B) With the exception of bored Edmontonians; Who listens to Edmonton AM Radio?

I've had it with Philly media ever since the ganged up on Mike Richards.

Yeah I don't really see Loo ending up in Philly, it's a nice thought,...but is he over the hill? Or will a change in scenery get him preforming better. Loo has never struck me as a playoff performer.

I say Philly goes after a goalie that can compliment/challenge Mason and the two can work in tandem. A 1A/1B scenario. No more flakes please. We need a Tukka Rask type who is just even keeled and doesn't constantly have his foot in his mouth. Mason strikes me as being that way. I'm not so sure on Nabokov. He seemed combative on the Isle. Refusing to play or show up after being dealt and what not (IIRC). No Tim Thomas please. Let him fade away.

I'd like to see the Flyers consider giving Ray Emery another look; but looking at free agency; seems like there are lots of teams set on goaltending, but lot's of goalies hitting the market.

Take the money saved by not making a costly/risky investment on a "star" goalie and make/trade for more uprgrades on defense. Enough with the grey beard defensemen already; let's see some Dman who are about to hit their prime. We really need defenseman who can pass the puck. The passing percentage for the Flyers last season had to have been god awful.

Tim Pinnaccio tossed out Bobby Ryan's name again in the buzz around the Briere and Bryz Buyouts.

Emery would fit the bill as would Khoudobin from the B's - he appears calmer than Tuukka who has a bit of a temper. Similar style - good positioning and he is better at handling the puck than Tuukka.

Eh, I'm not so sure of that. He is going to want elite defensemen money, and I am no so sure he deserves it. But hey, who am I to decide that? NHL owners have shown themselves willing to throw around hundreds of millions of dollars at will.

And we're still paying the price of Gainey's stupid contracts in Montreal :scowl:

Do they have the interest and/or money for Ferrence. Ex-B's D-men seem to do well in Montreal.

No idea.
