Pens offered Letang 8 year 56 mil.
Letang declined and asked for a long term deal with 7.5+ a year.

Yeah, I think him turning down that deal is going to make it a lot easier for Pens fans to cope with him leaving lol.
When is it going stop? The Blackhawks ownership took out a full page ad thanking the city, the Bruins and the fans for a warm welcome and great sportsmanship.

Yep. Arguing over less than a million dollars a year when you're already at $7,000,000? Letang knows what happened with Staal last year, so I think he's working an angle for a trade. Which is fine, the Pens have younger d-men ready for some ice time.
It will be a bummer to see him go, but I won't be crying over this one. I just hope he doesn't go to a team where he is expected to save the franchise.

Sounds like his ego got in the way, and he wanted to be the highest paid D man in terms of cap hit.
He doesn't have any kind of no move clause in his contract. Will be interesting to see if Shero ships him off to some crappy team because he feels spurned

When he stops playing with Crosby and Malkin, we'll see what kind of numbers he puts up. I don't wish ill will on the guy, everyone wants to get paid, but it would be funny if he ended up on a terrible team. He'll cash in and get bought out in a few years. The owners learned nothing from the lockout.

That clip is the stuff of legend on the Flyers boards and has been posted on Reddit. I'm surprised Holmgren didn't just get up and deck Barkann.
Holmgren's bad-ass look and likeness to Skeletor and his flat crew cut hair style got him the nickname Skel-flat. Rumor is one reporter called him that once. Once.
I have a new respect for Daniel Alfredsson after this years playoffs, so I am glad to hear this news: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

Like you guys notice I did not participate a lot during the season. No cable makes it horrible to follow hockey. But now I have a few sports channel as well as nhl network. Should be a good year

So, we bought out Vinny's contract this year. That upsets me on a number of levels.
If there was ever a player that was the face of a franchise, Vinny had been it for us for 15 years. Add to that all the extra stuff he did for our community in his time here, the great charitable work he did for children with cancer, and the fact that he said he wanted to spend his entire career with the bolts makes this an especially hard hit to take.
Whoever he signs with is going to get a class act the likes of which are rarely encountered in today's sports.

Not to diminish his accomplishments, because he does deserve them on his own, but I'd have no problem being a class act for a 33million dollar buyout.

An unprecedented gesture that doesn't remove the pain of that loss, but it makes me remove my hat and say congratulations on the Cup and yes, you are a top class organization.
