I get it. But for those of us who don't hafta deal with all that, we indulge in a little good natured ribbing. I am particularly amused by the nationally run commercials for grilling season, lawn maintenance, and other things foreign to a native Miamian.

You'd love it here...it rarely gets above 80°...in December and January. After that, it's a bit toasty for much of the year.

All kidding aside, I do miss the seasons I grew up with, and about this time every year (Aug/Sep) I entertain the idea of moving somewhere more temperate summers. Heck, it can be 100° from late April into late September, and believe me, it gets old. But then winter sets in back East, and I'm glad to enjoy the 65-70° 'winters' here in the desert. Give and take.

The Wild manage to pull Bill Guerin out of Pittsburgh and make him their new GM. Good move for Guerin, but I was hoping he'd stick around and take over for Rutherford, who at age 70, will likely be stepping down in the near future. From what I've read, Guerin has the tools for the job, and has moved up the ranks of the front office rather quickly. Good luck to him in Minnesota.

In other news, Derick Brassard signs with the Isles. He was decent in Columbus and Ottawa, and quite productive as a Ranger, but for whatever reason hasn't found his game since. His stint in the 'burgh was a complete bust, and then being traded twice within a month last season (to Fla, then to Col) didn't help. Hope he can turn things around.

Oh, yeah. I semi jest. Many years they've given us hope to cling to-then 'blow it'. Looking forward to what changes JQ brings to the BB&T(or whatever)Center. If they can start the season with fewer losses it would help. They've often dug themselves a hole that can't quite climb out of at the end.

Well, here's some off-season news I'd been awaiting for years...:D

Report: Pierre McGuire removed from NBC’s No. 1 NHL team in favor of Brian Boucher

This name-dropping blowhard has mellowed a bit in recent years, but for the most part, he's always been annoying. Nobody cares who you had dinner with last night, Pierre, and nobody cares who a player's coach was back in juniors (and how well you know the guy). Tell us something poignant and interesting once in a while. Glad to see him demoted to the second team of the broadcast.

Totally agree. The only good appearance by McGuire was when he was doing an interview and Marty Turco was sitting on the other side of the glass. Turco nodded toward McGuire, shook his head and rolled his eyes. I'd attempt to post it here but I lack that kind of forum savvy.
