Agreed on all counts.
There's too many people around here who want to make a name for themselves, think tradition is for the ignorant, and want to stand out and be different. The Seattle NHL team is going to end up with some lame name/logo/colors thanks to that. Be smart and go with the Metropolitans, and stick with the same colors the Seahawks/Mariners use. How about some cool consistency across the sports teams in the city? Naw, makes too much sense.

Amen. Not that I am a fan of their teams, but Pittsburgh knows how to be a multi sport city. Black and yellow. For all. It's so cool.
I was really disappointed when VGK did not go with black and silver. Make them the Black Knights and have Raider colors. That would have been way too sensible.

Seems to me there's a bunch o' teams somewhere in western PA that do that.

New Jersey picks up former KHL MVP in Gusev from the Golden Knights.
On paper, the Devils are going to be scary good this season. First overall pick Hughes, Subban, Gusev, Simmonds (for the intangibles he brings), and of course former MVP Taylor Hall and Hischier already there. It'll be interesting to see how quickly they gel with each other.

Minnesota dumps GM Paul Fenton after only one year. I gotta admit, some of his moves last season were headscratchers, and this summer's signing of Zuccarello to a 5-yr-deal wasn't helping his cause. Especially after signing Jason Zucker to a long term deal then trying to trade him just months later...not a good strategy, either.
15 seasons later, Chris Kunitz calls it a career as an NHL player. I have great memories of him playing for the Pens.

A win-win situation as I see it. Lightning get an experienced puck-moving D-man, and Shattenkirk gets a great chance to re-establish himself as a top offensive force on the blue-line. He'll have the perfect opportunity to prove his Rangers stint was an anomaly. The low-risk ($1.75M) one-year deal puts him in position to cash in if the team and him both do well. On the other hand, if he stinks it up in TB it's not a terrible loss of investment for the club.

I am aware of this. I, however, want to hang on to as much precious warm weather as humanly possible. Plus, MLB.
Hockey season = winter + snow + cold + shoveling + gun-to-the-head depressing gray stuck indoors heating bills oh my god I can't take this anymore I wonder if Gone Plaid has a guest room level of despair. Or something like that,
