NHL PLayoffs 2009

Wonder how Hossa feels?

If you watched his face after time expired, you could see EXACTLY how he felt. Who knows, if he had showed up in that series maybe there's a different outcome... He didn't do SQUAT the whole series....Practically invisible. You watch, now it will come out that he was playing hurt....But heck all those guys on both teams were playing hurt. )-(

Detroit was TIRED.... The Pens deserved it... Fleury came up big in those last few seconds. I liked the way the Detriot crowd repsonded with class when Mario hoisted the Cup. )-(

As well as cheering on Fleury when he hoisted the Cup. Definitely classy! And I love how the crowd almost drowned out Bettman. If I had been there I probably would've jumped on the ice and smashed a cake into his face, but thats just me.

:hyper::hyper: WWWWWooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooHooooooooooooooooooooooo! :hyper::hyper:

Wow, that was awesome. Tough, grind it out hockey right until the very last tenth of a second. How appropriate for Fleury to save the game after getting lit up and pulled in game five. Wow.......wow.....this is most excellent! My Pens win!!!! My Pens win!!!

Did anyone notice that we closed out each series on the road this year? Definitely a sign of a great team. This game with our Captain on the bench watching for over half the game. So yes, we can also win with one of our best guys not playing.

Pittsburgh did it 30 years ago with the Pirates, and now the Pens win a game seven on the road.

Wow....I am so excited right now. Not sure what time I'll finally fall asleep.

Oh yeah....even more impressive about this one is we beat the Champs to become the Champs. No one can question us now. No easy road to the Finals.

Beating Detroit means the world to me. To me, they are the best organization in the NHL and signify all that is good about our sport. Much respect to Z, Holmstrom, Franzen, Draper, and Osgood. All class guys from top to bottom.

It's our turn now....

Wowzers. The Penguins are giant killers. No excuses for Detroit, they blew it.

I kind of like this Pittsburgh-Detroit rivalry thing, but Bettman is too much of a turd to put Detroit in the East where they belong.

It's possible Detroit is going to play Pittsburgh only 1 time next season, while they play the legendary Nashville Predators, St. Louis Blues, and Columbus Blue Jackets 6 times each.

It's hard to develop a rivalry when they never get to play each other. It must be a seceret part of the NHL's plan to market the game.

The next move for Bettman is to take the Toronto Maple Leafs and move them to Yuma, Arizona, then maybe start an expansion team in New Mexico.

Congrats to the Pens. It came down to the fact that they took advantage of their chances, and Detroit did not. Brad Stuart still sucks. I hope they send him to the Toledo Storm. (Yes, I know that team is defunct, that's why I want him there).

Okay, please don't. I'd probably start puking if I came onto TB and had to stare at Pens logos :smug:.

Alright, alright. I'll show some respect and not use one too.

So this has been quite the sports year for me so far....

I go to a Florida Gators game, they win the National Championship.
I go to a Steelers game, they win the Super Bowl
I go to a Penguins game, they win the Stanley Cup.
I guess I'll have to go to a Pirates game next. :D

Can I fly you in to attend a Lions game?

I blame the Officials!!

No, not for the officiating during the finals, both teams got bad calls and good calls, although it appears the Pens were the only team that got the pre-game instructions that they weren't going to call interference in the last two games. Cindy Crosby riding Franzien bareback was a huge miss. :rollno:

But the reason I blame the officials is:

A) The Anaheim and Chicago (especially Anaheim) Series. In both series the officials allowed players to get away with massive amounts of after the whistle and in some cases after the game hits. Much of the extracurricular activity was done with the clear intent to injure. Can you imagine if Rasheed Wallace was taking swings at Lebron James after a loss in an NBA series? Do you think for one minute he would play another game in that series? I'm all for hitting and physical hockey but the after the whistle and after the game stuff is bush league and something no major sport would tolerate.

B) The finals schedule. No way in H*$$ would the league have moved the series schedule up if Cindy was injured. They would have moved it back to August to get Cindy in.:scowl: In the ceremonies, Ilitch didn't shake Bettmans hand, and rightfully so, this sport definitely needs a commissioner not a Cindy fan club president running the sport. The schedule gerrymandering hurt the series.

As far as the series goes, I'm not saying the Pens didn't deserve to win or wouldn't have won had the Wings been rested and at full strength. And it wasn't the Pens fault that they weren't. The Pens definitely showed me something after the 5-0 loss in game five. And a lot of their roll players stepped up. Malkin is the real deal and no doubt deserved the Con Smyth, OTOH Cindy Crosby still doesn't equal the hype and nothing he did in this series changed my mind. At best he was the sixth or seventh best player on the ice and didn't have as much impact on the series as an injured Datsyuk or Lidstrom.

I don't see anyone on either side that should keep the Wings or Pens from doing this all over again next year. Hopefully they'll both be healthy when they get there.

Dont get your hopes up. The Bucs are like the "unwanted child stuffed in the closet" of Pittsburgh. Everyone is a fan, only to always end in disappointment. :atoz:

I blame the Officials!!

...snip...

I don't. I blame last year's Stanley Cup. We came in there knowing that we won it last year and the Penguins came in knowing that they lost it last year. It's rare to get a second chance to win it, let alone against the same team. I'm sure that was enough motivation after game 5 to set fire under their butts. The Pens hadn't played a game all season as good as either games 6 or 7.They played their butts off and it shows after they hoisted the cup..........in OUR HOUSE!!!

Props to the Pens for stepping up. It's 1 to 1 now. Tie breaker anyone???
