NHL PLayoffs 2009

LET'S GO RANGERS--GAME 7....I want to see Brasheer go down for his cheap hit against Betts. Ovechkin is def a pompous ego maniac jerk(some say its justified given his amazing skill..i dunno).

I am still rooting for Sergey Federov on the Caps, even tho im a new yorker, he is a legendary player for me.

Lets hope the ny changes their game style and gives Lundquist a little break..the man needs one.

Detroit only plays Vancouver if San Jose wins the series. Otherwise we play the Ducks.

Nucks/Blues - Right call, too many games (just like the Wings). Luongo has been hot, but if the Sharks win their series, this is going to be a pretty nice series for the Wings

Restated and bolded. I was fully aware of how the seedings would work out. Still, I think the Wings match up well against the Ducks. Their power play will make them pay, and Hiller really never had to contend with a screen in front of him, I've got a hunch Homer and Franzen will give him fits.

I was glad to see Brashear get 6 games for his shenanigans in game 6. The Hawks/Canucks will be a great series, and imho it's going to be Luongo trying to keep the young stars of Chicago down. The Hawks showed some great team cohesion, and, imho have a significant offensive edge over the Canucks when they're clicking. Bulin is in a contract year I think, and he's playing motivated (true to form). I think it's a pick-em if Luongo is on his game, but I'll call it for the Hawks in 6.

Wings/Ducks - Revenge for 2007 is at hand. I really hope Halloran isn't reffing any games in this series. As long as Detroit stays focused defensively and plays smart, they should polish off the Ducks in 6.

We'll see how the East rolls out tonight. Lundqvist needs to play the game of his life tonight or the Caps will rick-roll the Rangers.

I think the Canes are going to edge the Devils tonight in a hard fought battle, with Eric Staal carrying them on his back.

I am a die hard rangers fan and even I will admit that Ovechkin is not a pompous ego maniac jerk. The dude barely even speaks english. He is just amazing and there is no way around that. He has a lot of skills, plays cleanly, hits hard, and does things that not many other people can do.

He is also 70% of the Capitals team though, and hopefully Staal can shut him down tonight.

The difference between the Wings and San Jose, is San Jose's key players take shifts off. Marleaux and Thorton don't work near as hard on the defensive end. The Wings forwards back check, and are assets on the Penalty kill. And I agree, they realize that Playoff goals come by being around the net, not with pretty plays.

Last year Detroit became "Android Like". Hockey robots, perfectly dismantling any team in front of them. And this year they're the same team, but with Hossa added. I can't wait for Wings/Ducks! When's the first game?

Per Bruce MacLeod of the Macomb Daily Friday at 7 is game 1, Sunday at 2 is game 3 (both times eastern).

I'm not sure about "android like", unless you're thinking of the Borg and resistance being futile ;) Last year they wanted to win one for Dallas Drake, who was barely mediocre in the regular season, then was a major agitator/board warrior in the playoffs. He's replaced by Hossa's passion this year and Ozzie's desire to prove the naysayers wrong are the catalyst for this team (plus I think several players realize that with the cap realities, they're gone. I'm gonna miss Hudler, unless he goes along with my secret plan to take a 1 year deal at low cost to get UFA status the following season, then Lidstrom pulls an Yzerman and resigns for about $2 mil/yr to free up cap space for other players (5.45 mil extra will go a long way to helping the depth). Sammy is gone, so's Lilja and Conklin and Chelios. I'm hoping they can keep Huds, but I don't see them keeping Hossa without moving someone like Brad Stuart on D.

Made a minor edit for you :) Marleau must have been doing a lot of leading in the locker room because he doesn't bring it on the ice. The defining moment for me regarding Marleau, until he shows otherwise, was his jumping out of the way of a shot that ended up going in during last season's playoffs. Thornton actually showed some passion this series, but he is going to be saddled with the moniker of "No-Show Joe" until he is able to take a team to the promised land in the postseason. I feel bad for Todd McClellan, who is a great coach, for this first round exit. Ron Wilson is likely smiling someplace over it since he took the blame for the Sharks' playoff woes last year. Not trying to pile on or be disrespectful to the Sharks fans (other than the bandwagoners who are already on the Ducks wagon now). I'm hoping the diehard Sharks fans like kserg can share their thoughts on Marleau and Thornton, or other players who seem to fade in the second season.

You follow up from saying Ovechkin is a pompous ego maniac by saying you LIKE Sergie Federov?

:hmm:

That's it folks, CANES ARE MOVING ON!
