NHL Regular Season 2017-18

Four periods of play, two goals and two assists for the Bruins' Ryan Donato off his Olympic successes.

One point per period. It's unsustainable, but it'll be fun while it lasts. And the Bs only need one point tonight to clinch the playoffs; talk about an icing-on-the-cake season. They weren't supposed to be this good yet.

The only comparable i could think of was Cristiano Renaldo, the soccer player.

Oooh, that Crosby goal was incredible! Earlier in the game he almost made another one-handed flick while being tied up by the Dman, similar to the one he scored against Buffalo a few months ago. Unfortunately this one didn't get past Price.

That would have been great, but the bottom line is the Pens won a game they should have won. Taking care of business has not been consistent lately. Here's hoping they figure it out in these last dozen games heading into the playoffs.

(Still shaking my head at the horrible change and lack of coverage that led to Scherbak's shorthanded breakaway goal. They looked like a peewee team still learning changing on the fly. That kind of mental mistake will kill you in the playoffs.)

Take it from this former hockey player - any moderately skilled amateur can make fairly accurate wrist shots. Whether they get past traffic and then past the goalie into the back of the net is usually a matter of luck. But many goals are scored that way.

Now, I'm one of the "Crosby haters" described above, but there is no question about his extraordinary level of skill. The number of hockey players in existence who could pull off that double tip in shot could be counted on one hand and you'd still have 3 fingers left.

Did you see the last minute of the game? Bruins win in the last seconds of regulation 3-2 (Pastrnak). I shut the game off at 2-0 Dallas after their shorthanded goal, figuring it wasn't meant to be for the Bruins on that night. OOOOPs! Would have been satisfied to pull just a point out of that game, but to come up with the win still missing all those players? Bonus!

Saw the whole thing, O Ye Of Little Faith. Pasta's gamewinner was also excellent.

But that Schaller goal... sheesh. Filthy.

I'll freely admit I haven't read all the posts(just found this thread)but,any Panther or"Bolt" fans out there? yes, I know,the Panthers are consistent in their inconsistency but they're fun/frustrating to watch.Then there's Vasilevskiy w/ that behind the back save and that wasn't a fluke! An earlier poster mentioned the crowd noise drowning out the commentary-not necessarily a bad thing.;)OOH! Just noticed-Pens/Flyers on NBC. A friendly get-together,I'm sure.;)Also,IMO,NHL promos-and ads featuring NHL players(Brodeur for Enterprise,Holtby for GEICO,etc)are some of the best featuring sports people. Full disclosure:I don't do bassetball.

Welcome to the thread, GonePlaid.

The Penguins are my hometown team, but the Panthers have become one of my favorite teams to watch over the past three years. Although last year was a downer, this year they have become exciting to watch again. Lots of young talent, with speed, grit, and skill. If they can continue improving they may be a legitimate contender soon...hopefully while Luongo can still play at his current level.
