The Penguins beat the Blue Jackets in a preseason game Friday night, so might as well get the NHL season going in TBOT.
Pens for the threepeat? Not likely. I don't remember them losing this many quality guys in an off season in the past.
Of them all, I think Cullen will be one of the ones that hurt the most. The Pens always play better with the veteran presence in the locker room. Sure Crosby and Malkin are veterans by now, but I'm talking an older guy in his mid to late 30's who has that leadership about him to keep those guys in check.

I'm still holding out hope Jagr catches on with someone. Would be cool if it was the Pens for one more go around.

I never put much weight in the preseason, but it's good to see the prospects get ice time. You know you'll see some of those names and faces later as injuries come about.

I agree with you on the Pens too. A threepeat would be neat, but in this era of hockey, I just can't get excited for that. Talk to me in January though, who knows what'll happen. We lost a lot of quality folks, and didn't really add anyone truly exciting IMO.

I still want Jagr to end up with the Pens. Give the guy a 1 year contract with whatever cap space we have at the time and let him retire a Pen. I harbor no ill feelings for him or the choice he made when he left Pittsburgh.

A new person joined my team at work who is a Canucks fan, so I'll have someone to chat hockey with in the office.

I might go to the 11/4 game up in Vancouver.

I'm curious how the Golden Knights will shape up. I haven't watched any of their preseason games, nor even any highlights. I still think their name and logo are pretty lame.

You know that everybody will say : " Vegas nights" :)
They'll look like an expansion team , fighting for next's year first choice.

Saw Mtl-Ott preseason last night , I'm very impressed by the Sens blue line.
They'll have one of the best in the league but they lack a little in front.
Lots of depth and absolutely fantastic youngsters. (Chabot and Lajoie)

I see them high in the standings this year , fighting for the first place in Atlantic.

Go Sens Go !

Edmonton Oilers represent. After years lost in the wilderness, we put up a nice run last year.

We have only 1 serious injury going into the season, 2nd pair d-man Sekera.

In camp and preseason, our first rounder Yamamoto has been tearing it up, and he may well not make the team. Our fourth line should be among the best in the league, and third line with Nuge and Jokinen should be very productive too. If Klefbom and Nurse continue to progress, our D should be solid enough. Put it all together, we're expecting a deep spring run around here.

Oh, McDavid. Yeah.

There is always SportsNet, TSN and the CBC......oh, wait a minute....never mind....

My cousin subscribes to Center Ice and shares it with me, so I'll be good.
I'm curious how, or even if, the NHL will respond. It's clear NBC values the Olympic relationship over the NHL relationship, rightfully so for financial reasons.

Well, not too bad so far, but it is just pre-season. Kids still look good, but still not convinced the D can get the job done. Pretty good at starting the fast break, but don't think they look as good when pressured. Lot riding on Andersen, McElhinney looked okay last night, but really don't see him as more than a backup.

Long time Pens fan here, since '75. I have to agree with every word you've written. Cullen is one of those guys that every championship team needs, both on the ice and in the room.

Also would like to see #68 in black & gold one more time, and I don't mean with the Bruins. Can't really see it, as there are too many bridges burned there, but it would still be a rush if it does happen.

Threepeat? As much as I'd love to see it, it's too much to ask after playing into mid-June two years in a row. Plus Murray...what can you say about a guy with two Cups in little over a year, but without Fleury pushing him he may not feel as motivated knowing he's the only starting caliber goalie on the squad. Maybe I'm wrong but we'll see.

Oh, and I still hate the Flyers...also since '75. :rage: :smug:

Welcome to the thread. Hang around and enjoy the season with us.

Good point on Murray. I didn't think of it that way.
