I totally agree.
Sports today is so serious, getting political, commercialized, and players so concerned with their media image, it was so cool to see Jagr skipping up there with that big smile hanging out with a bunch of goofball fans. You can tell he loves them like they love him.
I'm not a Travelling Jagr, but when I go to a Flames game, I'm going to dress up like Jagr.

Psyched to see Murray and the Pens bounce back after that dismal start.

I've always believed in Murray (wink wink...see my two previous entries in this thread!).

Any over/under on how many goals Ovechkin will score against him on Wednesday? :vomit:

Meanwhile, I gotta call DirecTV...again. I'd called back in July to cancel my NFL Sunday Ticket and confirm KEEPING the NHL Center Ice. Guess what I ended up with? Not Center Ice. :banghead:

So what's going on with Golden Knights?
Ok--it's only 2 games--but undefeated...

I suppose technically they could still be their only wins of the season.

And then there's the Flames--finally winning a regular season game in Anaheim--for the first time since 2004.
& it was a shut out as well.

Kind of cool.

This isn't like previous expansion teams. Back then the only players available were scrubs and washed-up has-beens. Vegas had some real quality players to choose from and overall they did a great job picking the top skill players available along with some dedicated grinders. Definitely overloaded on D-men but they will end up as trade bait as the season progresses and the Knights needs become more evident. McPhee and Gallant make a good team. Florida will be kicking themselves for axing GG so quickly when they did.

Re the Coyotes: Hey, at least they had a lead against Anaheim before they choked it away. I do think they will improve this season, but still fall short of the playoffs. If Tocchet could suit up and set an example, then they'd have a fighting chance. But stuck behind the bench, he can only get in their ears so much before the kids either get it, or don't get it. No Crosbys, Malkins, or Kessels her to make a coach's job easier.

Agree with you on Fleury but which sniper do you refer to? Neal? Perron? Neither won a Cup with Pittsburgh...both traded away prior to the last two Cup years. (Neal came into the 'burgh the year after the '09 Cup.)

The Knights have a better chance of making the playoffs in the West, ahead of weak teams such as Arizona, Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Colorado (despite their current strong showing in NY & Boston). I think The Flower will be driven more than ever before to leave his mark on this team by surpassing expectations early and often.

Poor Rick Tocchet. When Vegas jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first period, his body language screamed "What did I get myself into?" Should have stayed in Pittsburgh. Everybody knows the Coyotes Head Coach position is a sacrificial post at best, and basically a resume-killer. (And this is coming from a 'Yotes fan...one that still believes that someday they're gonna turn the corner.)

On the other hand, you gotta give credit to the Golden Knights. Flying out of the gate!

Steve Levy covering the NHL for ESPN? So lame. Almost as lame as trotting out Barry Melrose.
I'm certain any of us could do a better job talking about the NHL than Steve Levy. Example from Levy.....
I just assumed James Neal was the leading goal scorer in the NHL, but no. It's Alexander Ovechkin since he has two hat tricks.

Agree. Every year Melrose picks the Lightning for the Cup. And Levy can only talk about the Bruins or Rangers. Nobody has ever done the NHL any favors on ESPN since the late Tom Mees.

Yet, NBC still keeps that annoying, name-dropping, butt-kissing, Pierre McGuire on year after year. Listening to that putz rattle on every game about who this or that player's high school or peewee coach was is completely irrelevant, yet he never shuts up. And please, Pierre, tell us who you had dinner with last week so you can drop another name and impress us.

Ok, rant over. That felt good.

I hear ya man.. I’ve been a dogs fan since they moved to Phoenix.it was hard to watch last night.. it’s great to see the young kids get their playing time and develop but it’s gonna be a long season for us... hopefully we’ll put up some points on the red wings tomorrow...GO YOTES GO!!!
