I've been ignoring stories about the Pens signing Jack Johnson since I don't like the move.
Just today though I read the comments from John Tortorella taking issue with Johnson saying he wanted to play in a winning culture. The Pens won two of the last three SC's John. You may have an up and coming team in Columbus, but the Pens do have you beat on winning culture right now.

I think the reason Torts was so rankled was the suggestion that CBJ doesn't want/care to win. Probably even then it would not have been a big thing if Rutherford hasn't made the comments re 'we know why he was benched and it wasn't his play,' which is a very strange thing to say. I didn't watch many CBJ games but it sounds like the consensus is that his play offered plenty of reasons to bench.

Yeah, Rutherford's comments were kind of 'out there'. Perhaps he has inside information, or perhaps he was just playing head games with a rival organization. Who knows for sure. I'm just hoping Johnson's play will be revitalized and he'll pay dividends for Pittsburgh.

Bergevin announces he will trade Pacioretty, and will not look to negotiate a contract. Good news for any team in the hunt, bad news for fans of the Bleu, Blanc, et Rouge.

Look for Ryan Callahan to return to the Rangers. Tampa Bay to dump salary, especially with the Kucherov extension, and NYR needs experienced leadership.

You're right, but those two young pups have have their breakout seasons before concerning themselves with Kucherov money.

Awesome...trade our only goal scorer after dumping our only real offensive talent for a grinder.
I bet the Habs finish bottom three. Definitely will finish last in goals. Price has never been more than mediocre at best so Montreal has a long bleak 8-10 years ahead of them.
But as long as Mr Molson saves 10 million or so in cap space, that's whats important.

Well, nylander is due now for his contract. And Marner will get more than him next year.

And yes, neither has the history yet that Kuch has, so I would expect them time in less. But I was thinking $5.5 for Nylander, I think that went up now though. I’m guessing they’ll do a bridge deal with him.

And yeah, the Habs are a disaster, just slightly ahead of the Sens, smh.

If Price doesn’t bounce back this season, and beyond, his contract is going to be an anchor that weighs that team down for most of the next decade.

Never sign a goalie for that much for that long, if they lose their mojo, they collapse. Too risky.

But yeah, unfortunately he won't be lighting the lamp enough to put them in the playoffs.

If Bergevin can get a decent return for Patch, then maybe he'll keep his job. Maybe.

The Blues are hunting for bear.
Making lots of moves.
I was surprised by their trade of Stastny to Winnipeg last year was hope they were in the playoff hunt.
Now I see they had a plan as they knew they weren’t a contender... especially as Stastny proved he wasn’t a sure thing in re-signing.

Bozak (maybe overpaid) , O’Reilly (they fleeced Buffalo), Marroon (decent risk for a 1 year signing), extending Fabbri, which if he stays healthy is an absolute bargain. They’ve definitely thickened up their depth, not sure signing these veterans will help in a league that’s getting younger and faster though. But they are a deep team now. Could be interesting.

I agree with you on Maroon and Bozak, but I think StL gave up too much for O'Reilly. Sabres get three players and two high draft picks for one disgruntled player. It should pay off for Buffalo a couple years down the road per their plan. Unless Carter Hutton stands on his head and Dahlin can quarterback the PP sooner than expected, I don't see them making the playoffs this year either, but things are finally looking up in western New York.

OK, that's a bit of a stretch, but I do believe he'll be better than what he's shown the past couple seasons. I'm counting on it.

The Coyotes once again help another team out by taking on a big contract. A couple years ago it was Chris Pronger, then Pavel Datsyuk, and today they pick up Marian Hossa's contract from the 'hawks. They also pick up a couple of good young players, and they're only on the hook for $200K of his contract.

Too bad they couldn't acquire those stars when they were actually playing!

I go back and forth on that guy. For the life of me, I can't understand why he doesn't play up to his size.

Yep, you hit the nail on the head. We should send him some tapes of a guy named Chara...maybe he'll figure out how to use that size to the best advantage for him and the team. And develop a mean streak to go with that.

Did you know that there's a limit as to how close two objects can be, and that no two things ever actually touch one another? Compared to the size of an atom, the nucleus is tiny (like a fly on the center of a football stadium, I've read), and electrons are far tinier still. When you put your hand down on a table, the odds of any particle actually contacting another is infintesimally small. The reason your hand does not pass right through the table is because of the negative charge of the outermost electrons of your hand repelling against the negative charge of the outermost electrons of the table. This repulsion is so strong that, although it feels like contract, there is actually a tiny distance between your hand and the table that can never be traversed.

That is what comes to mind when I think of the distance between Jack Johnson being your only hope and simply having no hope at all.
