NHL Season 2018-19

Even though none of my teams are in the Erik Karlsson race, it's still pretty exciting following the drama. One day, he's heading to Vegas. The next, Dallas is the frontrunner. And Tampa Bay won't go away.

Just read an interesting fact...JT Miller, who just recently signed a nice 5-yr extension, does NOT have any trade protection clauses in his new contract. And Yzerman must jettison a fair amount of salary to acquire EK. Sorry, JT, we hardly knew ye, off to Ottawa you go, joining Matt Duchene in Hockey Oblivion.

We're three months out from the start of the next Penguins SC run, I mean the 2018-19 season. I think it's time we move on to a new thread.
I went with Regular Season in the title as I wasn't sure how much interest there would be.
In the past we did regular season, and then a playoff thread, and then offseason.
I'm cool with one thread to cover it all.......[URL='https://www.talkbass.com/threads/nhl-season-2018-19.1352877/']NHL Season 2018-19
See ya there.

That's more like it.

Go Jackets!

I've been ignoring stories about the Pens signing Jack Johnson since I don't like the move.
Just today though I read the comments from John Tortorella taking issue with Johnson saying he wanted to play in a winning culture. The Pens won two of the last three SC's John. You may have an up and coming team in Columbus, but the Pens do have you beat on winning culture right now.

Think we are starting to see history repeat itself here. Tortellini had some fast success with two teams, but quickly lost the players respect on both of them. Teams only seem to respond to his "methods" for a short time before they quit on him.

Yeah, typical Tortorella. I honestly like the guy most of the time, but sometimes he needs to pause and count to 10 before opening his mouth. Sure, Torts, going to a recent two-time champ vs staying with the ONLY NHL team that has never won a playoff series. You tell me...who has a winning culture? And who doesn't?

Just my opinion, but despite Johnson's denials I personally think he meant every word of it aimed at Tortorella. He's the guy that benched him, after all.

Yes, and we didn't get one. We got a guy who used to be a defenseman, when he was good. Now, he's just a warm body.
Meanwhile, Rutherford let Bernier slip right on by.

I miss Bernier. Solid backup/1b goalie. He would have been a good pickup for you guys.

Johnson has good potential as depth defenseman. He’s had a brutal few years personally, and wasn’t happy in Columbus. Hopefully a change in scenery will do him good. You’ve got 5 years to find out, lol
