NHL Season 2023-24

Dallas came out and took a quick 2-0 lead. Edmonton woke up and next thing you know tied at 2. The entire rest of the game, I don't think Dallas completed more than two passes in a row, as the Oilers' defensive strategy stifled the Stars.

Exact opposite of what happened in the last game. Edm came out and won first and looked great. I don't think they saw the puck the rest of the night.

I'm gonna stop watching hockey entirely if the final is Dallas/Florida.

Hockey has become a joke of a sport if the only teams winning are places where they literally don't get snow.

Hockey is a perfect sport for the winter blues, and yet it's a sport when the winning teams are places where literally no one gets the actual winter blues.

I know I'm tinkling into the wind on this one, but what should be a mental health perk for being trapped in a northern climate has been ruined.

It's just so bizarre seeing cups being won where the majority of people don't care, and don't even know what a real winter is.

Again I know it's a mortal sin to gatekeep hockey, but seriously a sport you literally cannot play outside and you're winning all the cups.

Imagine if Kangaroo riding was dominated by Finland.

That's basically how I see another southern team winning.

The salary cap was basically introduced so no nothern team could never win.

I'm gonna(fairly)respectively disagree with a lotta this. Many more people are interested in hockey; many young players now have the chance to make a decent salary playing the game they love; people learn to care once exposed to the game; AFA winter, a whole ship(sp?) load of your fellow Ontarians come to FL for a large portion of winter-which you folks are welcome to 'experience'. I had my share of winter at boot camp, north of Chicago from 12/1/64 to 2/12/65. Y'all can keep that [stuff].

BTW, I was born and grew up in Miami. I used to watch the one game each week on NBC(?)back in the early 60s. Always enjoyed the game.

AFA winter blues/indoor sports, I despise 'bassetball', another 'winter' sport.

So. While I respect your right to your opinion, Professional Hockey-at all levels-would never have reached the income possibilities that it has w/o the expansion, yes, into the South, of the sport.
Go Panthers!

I'm thinking that Smoky is rooting for the Panthers. I got the towel when I went to a Panthers game last year.

I'm thrilled the Panthers ousted the Rangers to get to another Final, but I'm leery that having an entire week off until Game 1 will cause some rust. We've seen that happen before. On one hand, it's nice to have a few days for those niggling injuries to heal, but more than a few days can be detrimental. We'll see.
