Pens continue to cough up late leads and blow it in OT, this time against the Islanders.

Then off to Carolina, got trounced 5-1. Actually, they outplayed the Canes for much of the 1st period, but having Erik Karlsson on the ice is like playing one man down, since he is out of position about 99% of the time. And our porous goaltending along with an even more porous defense isn't helping. Gonna be a long season.

Hm. Interesting. I rarely get a Leafs game here in S.E. FL, so I don't have a comparison. Maybe when he's on the ice they try too hard to get the puck to him?

If my memory serves me the Oilers just won 2 of 3 with McDavid out too. Maybe everyone steps up or perhaps the ice time is distributed more evenly, I dunno.

The Leafs are something like 34 and 17 when Matthews is out of the line up! I'm thinkin a first pairing defenceman and three first rounds picks and 14 mil in cap space! LOL

Well it is a team sport. I think that gets forgotten with so much focus on the stars. Look how they throw teams together like Vegas who then succeed.

12 games by Hellebuck and he is running .935 SV%... seeing how he averages about 50 games a year, it bodes well for Winterpeg!
Also nice to see that Cam Talbot is getting back to form this year

The Dallas Stars scored more goals against Pittsburgh than the Dallas Cowboys scored points against the Eagles the day before, annihilating the hapless Penguins 7-1.

Our defense has to be the absolute worst in NHL history. Having one of Karlsson, Grzelcyk, and Ryan Graves on the ice at all times is not going to prevent many goals, and other teams know it, and look forward to it.

It is really impressive what they're doing so far! They lead the league in goals scored and goal differential, and they're just barely second in goals against (31 vs. 30 for the Rangers). Best record in the league. They're really on a hot streak. I want to see how much longer they can keep it up.
