Double Bass NHOP Fingerboard/Pick-Up observation.

At 2:31 in this video, the end of NHOP's FB has some interesting textures. Was this some way of combining the FB and the magnetic pickup that he reportedly used (the "String Charger" if I remember correctly)? Those don't look like normal "wear" markings, or anything I've seen before.

Yes, NHØP had a system that used magnets in the fingerboard, so that the signal for the amp would be induced in (charged), and taken from the strings. I believe they were short circuited at the nut, hope I am correct. In his later years I believe he (also?) used the Wilson though, again I hope I am correct.
