Nice bass guitar to buy?

Was wondering anyone of u have experience with Link Removed? I've been playing electric (Strat) for a couple of years and am currently looking into buying my first bass. I was hoping some helpful HC's could point me in the right direction. I'm pretty broke so I'm
looking for something cheap, sub-300 if possible. I'm pretty oblivious when it comes to bass, but I'm hoping to find something with a solid top. Just googled this product. Looks nice, I mean the price. But I'm not sure it is that good. What's your opinion? Should I go with it or not?

I own the peavey zodiac BXP,
not the scorpion model , which is fancier w the Mirror pickguard etc.

.. I traded it from a friend who owned both at the time,
He preferred the Zodiac over the upgraded zodiac scorpion DE model,

It's a classic pj, a pbass with an added jazz bass pickup and a narrower width neck (at the nut)than a p bass..

The narrow neck is quick, the tone is beautiful. Everyone says that, yeah.. But with new strings, flats or rounds, it can sound pure and clear, aggressive or whatever, it's a pro sounding passive bass that any pro player would respect,it's not "budget" or "cheesy" it's just simple.
Good finish, pickups everything..
Basic and reliable.
The DE is the same thing in my opinion.. Although my buddy prefers the BXP, I dig both.
Like most peaveys you get a lot for the money
I think the DE is fancier but the cheaper Zodiac is just fine .

I also like the MTD version of the p bass
It's about $450 new.

I did not research the particular bass you are referencing but I did just go through this. Reading through my thread on here may help you with options....
