Nice new sub for bass

you actually like active PA subs for bass guitar? do you like when bands you're mixing use them for that? i've never had to deal with that but i would expect too much useless sub-lows coming off the stage.

I only use the sub in rehersal and on gigs where there is no PA support.
Most gigs , I use only my top (L'Acoustic 108-P)

I've never come across a bass player with a sub as a soundman , can't be worst than a 8X10 ..... at least with a sub , you actually have low end , not just low mids :)

Most of the sound frequencies in which a subwoofer shines (25hz-70hz) make for "mud" in the context of a live band. The sound of an electric bass, though subjective, is not at it's best in those lower frequencies. Want to shake some bones in your audience?, get a couple of really good 410 cabs, and a high powered head...even then, depending on settings, your soundman will probably be cleaning up some of the lows in the PA.

Different lives , different experiences..... ;)

IME , mud is between 110-250hz.
Also IME , 4X10 and 8X10 are specially good at producing those Muddy frequencies and very bad at lower frequencies.
Also bass cabs are usually designed as short throw , the dispertion farther away and the coherence are very , very , very bad.

That'S the main reason I use Pro level PA stuff....

And like I said , I only use these in a context where it doesn't fight with another low end source (PA)

How does that coax stack up to some of the other boxes you've had?

It would not be a fair comparaison as this box is worth over 4K.
The overall quality , coherence , power is amazing.
Also very surprizing amount of low end for an 8'' box when I use it without the sub.

I have JBL LSR28P as my reference , and this one sounds better.

I had it for a lot less :)

Yep , me too.

I have L'Acoustic all over @ work.
Working with their coax monitor is a charm.
High feedback rejection , and no EQ needed.

But they are expansive as heck...
