Nitro finishes and stands

I was curious about my Hercules stand (I don't currently have any nitro finished instruments), so I looked it up: FAQs - Hercules Stands USA
It's not a guarantee, but it seems like they did some solid testing and didn't find any problems with their foam.

String Swing is another who put a lot of time into testing their stands with nitro finishes. They can be on the expensive side.

I really like my nitro guitar. I’ve had people ask if it is a 50’s original. 2008. My poly bass his little obvious wear and could be buffed up if I could be arsed to do it.

I use Hercules hangers and wrap the foam with cotton for one of my Sadowsky nitro neck basses.

Peace of mind for me.

The translucent K&M stands are supposed to be safe for nitro finishes. I have the K&M 17540 E-guitar stand and the K&M Guardian 5 and store my Fender American Original 60s Jazz Bass in it.

I've used these stands exclusively for the last 10-15 years with no ill effects whatsoever on my nitro finished basses. I highly recommend them (the build quality of K&M is superb too, except their ultra-cheap, entry level mic stands...). The reason I started using these stands was that other stands DID affect the finish on my nitro finished instruments.
