Like a fool I nearly sold this one once. I had it boxed up and ready to go when the buyer backed out, it struck me that I was making a hideous mistake and I unboxed it. The thought of selling it hasn't ever returned. That was before Mike retired. Now that Mike has finished it has made it quite clear that I definitely wouldn't find another one for anything like what I paid for this one about six years ago.
If people are holding onto them, that's only natural I suppose. When you can't just order a new one it becomes clear that there isn't just a revolving door of these basses coming and going. I will admit that I've seen some optimistic pricing of used Pedullas since Mike retired. I don't know if they sell for those prices but the listings come and go so I assume they are turning around at those sorts of prices now. Mine had some light play wear and patina, it probably cost about £1000 less than it would typically list for now.
If you get the chance to play a Pedulla, do it! Mike was an innovator and he has created a lasting legacy in these amazing instruments.
